E350 4Matic and need some general advise
Hi Guys,
I did checkout the BMW 535 and it is like a 7, feels too big and somehow it felt less limber than E350
On the E350 4matic
1) Does the slightly offset driver position bother anyone or is getting used to?
2) Gong to get p2 package, Sport and wheel packages
3) Black on black with black wood
Is the tech package with distrionic , blind spot etc worth it?
Thanks

1) Don't understand the "offset driver position" question.
2)Yes, go with P2. You will like it. You will like sport package look too and hopefully you'll have the pano roof. Pano roof does not really do anything special for the driver but if you have passengers in the back perhaps they like it. The most of the pano roof I think I get is how it makes this car look outside. It is just awesome.
3) Sports package already has black roof liner and my beige seats mix very nicely with that. Not sure if I would like black seats if that is what you mean.
I did not opt for the driver's aid package but now I regret I did not. I have driven several MB rental cars with this package and I kind of miss distronic. Next car I buy will have it.
Distronic in many minds don't give much benefits but it all depend on where you drive. One scenario is if you drive in dark rainy weather with poor visibility (regardless of the awesome front lighting Bi-xenons bring) and a deer (or moose in Canada) jumps on road. If you have distronic ON the car will be on brake before you even know there is an obstacle in front of you. Now that is a safety feature.
I drive on highway most of my driving and I hate to drive in dark because of the deer problems. Distronic provides a set of eyes in dark as on highway I drive with cruise control anyway. If I had distronic I would have those eyes that see in dark. Unfortunately I did not get the package but, as I said, my next car will have it. Wonder why MB does not bring this up in their commercials.....perhaps because all Autobahns are protected with wild life fencing...highways here and in Canada are not...
Another thing you want to have is the multi contour driver's seat. It redefines "cup seats" that some other sporty cars have.

Thanks Arrie for your reply
I like the all black look, so going to get black leather with dark wood. I will consider the Distrionic .
Multi contour seems like a regular seat but with ability to adjust bolsters , which in dynamic mode hold you tight
I tried them they were nice but on the right side where there are controls for the multi contour, it kinda is firmer there and presses your inner thigh since there are cutouts for the controls and bladders i guess

Sorry for the delayed response
Offset position being the steering when and driver seat not being perfectly aligned . The seat center( mid point) does not align with the steering wheel center. Auto car review did comment on it

Really? That's weird. Never noticed it. Hopefully now that you mentioned it, it doesn't alter my driving experience, lol.
The fact that I never noticed it must be testament to it bearing no real issue though.

You're right. I just checked out my car and the steering wheel is slightly right of the center seat position.
I never noticed this before so it's a non-issue for me. However, I find it strange the MB would design it this way.

Wow, you learn something new every day. I never noticed that it was off center myself. Is there anyone with multiple MB cars that can confirm if this is a Benz thing or if its an E-class thing?

Yeah, I noticed it too. My wheel sits kind of high, and it seems to help it seem like less of an "issue".
Either way, it's a total non issue to me.
