One or two rear foglights?
Today during a quick stop after a very foggy motorway trip I noticed that my car only have one rear foglight. All my previous BMW:s had two. I think one looks pretty cheap... Is it the same on all markets?
(the camera didn't pick up the all of the LED:s due to the frequency I guess...)

yes, just one, driver side......
it does make it look strange.......
but I also agree that it would be confusing with brake lights
my volvo is the same way, kind of makes it look like you have a tail light out, lol....

Yeah, I know it makes sense. Now you know that it's the foglight for sure. Strange that my E61 had two.

Rear Foglights are only supposed to be on one side. I even though it was illegal to have two.
The point is to provide extra visibility to your car, to the car behind you, and having 2 will do that, but will also confuse people into thinking that you'd be braking, etc. (or they couldn't tell when you were braking, for that matter).
Weird that the Bimmer would have 2. BMW's never been known to engineer 'em as well as M-B does.

Actually, having 2 rear fog lights is very usefull. Audis have them on most late cars.
I use it all the time in our A8 when someone at night tailgates me (how dare they, no one drives faster than me!). I put them on then immediatelly off when they backoff and so on. Most people do not know they are fogs.
Having said above, I do get annoid when some Audi owners drive with them on at night all the time since they're quit bright. Same goes for other makes, including MB, but to a lesser degree since they use only one.

+1 ... especially if it is not a foggy night!
Ditto for those who keep front fog lights on all the time WHEN THERE IS NO FOG AT ALL. Go figure ...

One or two foglights
Hi all, I have a 2010 ML63 and recently had the rear near side light fill with water and take out some of the LED's, i replaced it and noticed the fogs don't work in there, I've read that they only have fogs on the driver side so what do the two bulbs do that are in there, hand book is no help. Cheers Rich

certainly all my 80s/90s european cars that had rear fogs were only wired on the drivers side. this includes various Volvos, Mercedes 124's, etc.

That's one of the things in which the posters would be in an ambivalent situation. One could post a new thread and others could say : "Why don't you do a search ,there's tons of same threads talking about what you say " while other hand as the Ric's situation you could bring back an old thread .I don't know which way is proper way of posting but it doesn't matter to me .
However, if I had to choose between these two ways ,I think I could post a new thread but either way is fine to me
Sorry for irrelevant intrusion

at least that's the conclusion I came to, since that particular bulb {on both taillights} never came on again after replacing the bulb, I think in my '03 S500 used the turn signal bulb for braking if the actual brake light bulb went out.
One is probably the fog light.

Yes, I was under the impression that it was EU regulation that the fog light is on the LH side only. Again, my understanding is that it is to assist in determining the rear left position of another car when overcoming / passing.
