Perfect examples by AMGFan, and agreed.

It's all about how the rest of the car looks (just like all mods, really).

What I really meant by "cheesy", was when you see a bone stock car (even more-so, if it's not a performance car, but again, the right complimenting mods can still alleviate that), with some bright colored and distracting painted calipers, it looks cheesy, and devaluing IMO.

The right calipers, on the right looking car, always look sweet though. I'm glad M-B put black "plaques" on the W212's, as I don't think my W211 had those (?).

Those "plaques" are definitely something new.

Yeah, look on your calipers, there's a little "plaque"-ish type of thing, that's pasted on top of the caliper. It's like a half-a$$ed black caliper, with an M-B logo. The full caliper is still that gritty-durable-silver, but the black adds some elegance, and style, without going for the full blown paint job.

I think that'll pacify me. If I ever have to do some painting in that area, for any reasons (hopefully not.... knocking on wood), black would be my color of choice.

Another thing to consider and I have seen this mainly on some asian import side is there is a tendency to paint calipers for the sake of painting them. Sometimes you don't wan't to highlight calipers/rotors at all especially if they are on the smallish side.

Instead of people complementing you on the calipers, people will be wondering why they are so small (along with rotors) compared to the size of the upgraded wheels. As a matter of fact, I see this a lot too with big SUV's that have 22"-26" wheels with these tiny brakes...I didn't want to fall into that group...plus it would be nice to be able to stop considering the added unsprung weight of the wheels and tires.

I had my original caliper powder coated black. They came out great, but blended into the car too much. You could barely see them through the wheel. When I upgraded to the BBK, I choose India red so they would "pop".

I chuckle to myself when I see this. With the big wheel it's like you are putting the small brakes on display.

They look good. Is the "///" symbol there also? You have any side shots of the whole car?

I think they came out pretty nice. Are you happy with them? When I had black, I felt like it blended into the wheel too much.

I am happy with the outcome. As soon as I find the right rims....they will definitely stand out.
