Covering my calipers?

help me understand the point of the caliper covers that we see......the red ones.....yellow........orange.......
is this to protect interior parts/for looks?
complications? advantages?
I like the look but am wondering who says what about the other
functions if there are any..........
any comments welcome

I highly recommend using G2 caliper paint and if you carefully apply the stickers when it is still slightly tacky, they will cure into the paint.

of course we'd never see them, unless driving by a big glass
office building, lol.......
I do love seeing the reflections of my car
I would do silver with Black decals.
With the excess silver paint you can do the hat portion of the rotors as well, to really get a good uniform look to it.

Tire Rack carries the G2 paint.
I just had my calipers painted in silver. I had my W211 painted in yellow. The guys that did my mods and painted the calipers added a Brembo decal to my W211. From what the shop said, the stock brakes on the W212 and W211 are oem Brembo.
Not sure how white would look, should be cool with the right rims on a white car, but the upkeep would be a deal breaker.
I think the stock silver looks clean, and the M-B logo is ideal on it, but I think my main reason for not jumping to do the black is due to having another area to upkeep and wax.
As long as the areas in question still look hot to me, I'm all for efficiency of keeping the upkeep on the car as simple as possible.

I believe all MB calipers, 4 pot and up, are made by Brembo.
Didn't know our cars had Brembo's as standard, so I retract a portion of my previous statement, although I think the yellow/red still would look maybe cheesy on a car like this, unless it's really modded to compliment/work with that look.
Also, our cross-drilled rotors are pretty friggin' nice.
Gets some "Whoaaa"'s from some friends, lol.

Not too cheesy IMO. Maybe a tad cheese as I got my W212 painted in the factory silver to match the car and left off the decal this time around.

On my Suburban, which is white, I upgraded to Brembo 15"/6pot kit and left the calipers Brembo red. If I did the same thing on my E55 (if white), I would probably color match them and have black lettering or go black with white lettering. On the Suburban, since it is so big the red Brembo calipers look right as is while on the E55 they might detract from the rest of the car.
On the SL65, the red calipers seem the right accent to the car since the rest of the car is already intimidating and the red calipers aren't THE center of attention...but that is my opinion.
