The AMG.com site is for the USA (MBUSA) and so far they only have a designo splash page telling you to see your dealer. The Designo program is still weak in the US, and even the dealers aren't well prepped on it. The AMG product managers at MBUSA have said they are working on it and should have a website up soon (that was 6 months ago.) The dealers also need better education and more materials to show customers (instead of tiny little paper paint chips, etc..)
p.s., be careful of any of the "magno" matte paint choices on the AMGs (and any designo matte paint MB vehicle.) Sounds like they could be potential headaches. Here's a .pdf from AMG concerning care for the magno paint.
Still not sold on it from the maintenance stand point (plus any minor body repair issues and finding the proper body shop.)
Plus I enjoy a pleasant day of using a clay bar and putting on a nice sealant and wax.
I will say that a colleague's MAGNO S 63 has been through the car wash (touch with awful brushes) every weekday for 3 months and the finish looks as good as mine with hand washing only. I'm guessing that equates to about 50 machine washes over the 3 months - more than most people would probably do in a year!
that's one of the only things I like about the new audi's and volvos are some of the wood trim they have.........
I think the new s60 has that amazing Nordic trim stuff............it's beautiful!
Thats one of my main concerns.
Im getting the 550 coupe with designo interior, but im skeptical about the MAGNO paint because of our terrible winters. Then again, i have an audi a3 3.2 quattro to also drive in the winter.
I might just get a regular paint job and wrap my car in a matte vinyl, which also looks good.
Another thing, how is the rear wheel drive in the winter snow?
thanks

RWD on this car is just like any other RWD car. It's no 4MATIC, but with winter tires it's manageable. I've primarily had RWD cars so it's business as usual.

Watch for a special edition C 63 in MAGNO to drop at the Montreal Autoshow.
