P2 Headlight Adjustment

I have a new 350 4 Matic with the P2 Xenons lights and it seems tome they just don't light up the road as well as my CLK does. Does anybody know if there is a way to raise the level of the lightswhen they are on the low beam setting?
Thanks

I just got a e550 4matic with p2 and would agree that the low beams should reach further out from the car. They are most certainly bright enough but need to beam further. You might also consider reading the thread about the auto high beams that I started yesterday. Maybe the dealership can make an adjustment. Thanks. Ned.

Thanks for the confirmation that I'm not imagining the issue. I always just put the lights on manually and flip back and forth to the highs. But you are correct that they just don't shine very far out. I was hoping someone had already found a solution. I'll probably take the car in and see if they can adjust them.

I agree, first time with Xenon so wasn't sure how far the beam should go, but I feel it should light more of the road w/ low beams. Will the dealer make an adjustment and at no charge?

I'm not aware of the upgrade and can't find the thread. Does anyone know that link?

That's unbelievable. Will they replace the old lamps for free? They should. I just got my e550 with p2 this week. I would imagine that is before they started to use the new bulb. The new lamp is made by the same company that makes the bulb in my Sony xbr1 50 inch rear projection hd tv. A high end bulb company.

headlamp adjustment is very simple...all you need is an allen-wrench that inserts at the top of the headlamp in the only opening there...(has an x for a screwdriver at the bottom of the hole - note: don't use a screwdriver you will strip the x)

adjust up or down by turning left or right...

aim headlamp angle by placing your vehicle on flat ground next to a wall to see if the beam is dipping. then adjust other beam to match height by pulling your car towards a wall on level ground at about 10 feet.

cheers,

chris

Try drivng a P1 car without the xenon lights. I could get better road illumination by holding up a bic lighter.

Thanks for all the information. I'm going to go to the dealer and see if there is any chance to replace the bulbs on warranty.

UPDATE

The dealer has no information on the new type of bulb, but is researching the issue. On the adjustment front, they will only raise the beams in line with State inspection standards. The People's Republic of Mass. strikes again.

Tell them to adjust the headlight with this. It is a required MB tool, and unfortunately not many techs know how to use it, or what it is for that matter.

I agree that it is important to use the correct tool, adjusting against a wall or another improper method may not provide optimal alignment, the attached link was interesting.

BTW I wasn't aware of the left side is actually/suppose to dip, while the right side appears to be pointed further out, while the brights are adjusted for an even distribution.
