E550 or SLK55 AMG?
I posted a poll in this thread looking for some external feedback in making a difficult choice. basically I'm stuck trying to decide between a SLK55 or E550 and my wife, as usual, is no help whatsoever.. "just get whatever you want."

Just drive both cars with her... If you live in a place where roads are smooth and if you don't need more than two seats perhaps the SLK would fit you. Otherwise there is no contest the E550 would simply be much better and safer...

I would pick SLK55 unless it is only one car in a family. Not sure if it is much fun driving convertible in Florida, but certainly in California. So I would take SLK55 for myself and E550 for wife.

Are you talking about the Coupe, or Sedan? I'm assuming Coupe, since the E550 Sedan and SLK couldn't be more different from each other.
Either way, either "E" by a longshot, no contest for me.
Also, keep in mind, the SLK has a new body style coming out next year.

E550 all the way
I have a 2011 E550 coming out of an ML500. The great thing about the E is that it does so many things well. Comfy back seat big trunk and hauls a** if you want to. Bit of a Grandpa car in the past but the new LED light front gets a lot of attention

I drive a 2013 ML350
I drive an E350 now, but I had the SLK55 last Summer (bought from Andrew on this forum BTW). I loved the power of the 55, but for all practical reasons, here in Chicago, the E Class makes more sense to be able to drive all year round.

SLK55 is a fun, tossable car with a nice hardtop. However, the E-Class is more practical if you need a car for all seasons, and only have the garage space of owning 1 car/daily driver.
