I tried this. You don't need to be in engineering mode to access the Bluetooth signal transmission and volume settings. It improved the issue but it has not gone away.

I might try taking the car in for a software or firmware update to see if the issue goes away.

This is in the sticky up front. There's several messages that cover it.

In that thread, there's mention of other comand updates.

I don't see anything directly referencing the streaming audio quality issue. If you see it, let me know and thanks in advance!

I didn't see one specifically, but a couple people have mentioned that they updated their Comand at the dealer and it was better afterwards. I wish there was a CD/DVD like there was on the previous W211, but I contacted one MB parts department and they said only the dealer can do it. I wonder if a knock off Star Diagnostic can update it.

2011 Mercedes-Benz E550 Cabriolet
Update:

Its been a week and I have had no audio stuttering while streaming through bluetooth with my iphone SE with iOS 10. Connection to sync is still very quick once I start the car. Audio is loud and crisp.

I was a bit hesitant to spend $150 for the COMAND firmware update but decided afterwards that it was a good one time investment. I'll add that to the cost of the car and call it done.

What version was your comand before update and what is it now? Production date of your car?

I just bought a 2011 GLK 350 today and am now realizing it doesn’t have Bluetooth audio, and now I am trying to figure out my best option. Did you figure it out?

not sure about the glk but since you’re out of warranty take it to the dealer and see if they can update it. May only be possible if you have nav.

I posted this in another thread, but this solution is working very well for me. Connects to the existing 30-pin iPod cable (I'm assuming your GLK has it like my E63 does) and fully enables all bluetooth audio functionality and works with steering & headunit controls.

Just reset your mobile phone. This then resets phone Bluetooth and all connects again with no issues. No removing fuses or dealership needed
