how to turn off traffic announcements in NAVI
I have a couple more gripes with my 2011 E350 NAVI, can someone help?
1) cannot find a way to turn off voice-over traffic announcements. I'm able to mute it every time it goes on, but sometimes I end up canceling route guidance just because it's mad annoying.
2) can not find a way to see a route text list of directions to my destination, beginning to end. Only the stupid Browse Route function available, one little bit at a time..makes me so sad

That "woman" drives me INSANE when she won't shut up! It practically ruined some driving endeavors for me.
I finally heard that if you press the "Mute" button on the steering wheel, it'll shut up.

Turning off traffic announcements
1) There is a way to do it...I did it on mine, but I don't remember off top of my head...if you go into the traffic menu or into the NAVI menu there is a way to disable traffic read-out messages. Additionally, which I thought was stupid, the default setting for traffic mode is to just "show" you or tell you of traffic areas on your selected route...it doesn't autmatically re-route you. You have to go into the menu and select dynamic route and it will alert you of traffic on your route and propose a new route without traffic or calculated faster time.
2) don't know if there is anyway to do a text preview of the route...my guess would be safety concern that you might get caught up reading too much while driving.

Funny.
First day I bought my car, I set navi to go home from the dealership and the B itc H wouldn't shutup the whole way. Tried about 10 minutes to turn her off and eventually just turned off the navi.
If anyone has a step by step instruction for this, would appreciate as I can hear her whispering in the back of my mind already the next time I turn the navi on.

Like K-A said whenever she talks (interupts your music) press the mute button and she will no longer talk for the rest of your trip, I about thru a party just because I found out how to do that...

I remember my delivery consultant saying he turned off something because it gave too much info. I'm guessing this is what he was talking about because I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I'll try to figure out what he did and post about it later this evening...

In NAVI mode, get the menu bar to display, then select NAVI to open the drop-down menu. Scroll down past Highway Information and the next option is Read Traffic Messages Automatically. Click on that sucker to deselect and you're good to go.

Story of so many of my drives. Cruising along, Nav on, enjoying life in my sweet a$$ whip, and a great song comes on! YES! I'm floating.... Chorus about to hit, I'm on a natural high, and BAM!!!! Music off, robot b***h comes on, and I have to sit there and listen to her talk through 5 more songs.

It's like when I'm on a flight, watching the movie or listening to music through their inflight entertainment system...get to the climax of the movie, that pinnacle point that gives meaning to the entire movie and ding..."to our left side is an old field, and, uh, while we look up connecting flight information, uh, to the right is..." Flight after flight.
After turning the Nav lady off, how do you turn her back on again? Is it a certain adjustment with the dynamic, massaging seats?

Nav lady comes back when you hit the control knob and then select (should be automatically on it) RPT (repeat).
