Best Time to Purchase a 2014
W212 owners - greetings from a W204'er. I really love the current E class and am hoping to purchase one soon, but want to get the best deal. Thus, I would like to wait until there is new model coming into the line, instead of just a facelift. Will a new redesigned model be released in 2014? If 2014, when would be the best time of year to start dealing when we know the new model is close to arriving. I was thinking late summer of 2013 but wanted to get your opinion and pick your brains. My thoughts are focused on my belief that I would be better off with the 2013 than the 2012, because if the end date is 2013 then the model would be greatly reduced than the 2012 in 2013 - but again, your thoughts are key. I really love the look of the W212, its elegant and aggressive, if that's ever possible.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Unless funds are the limiting factor, I wouldn't bother waiting.
With the help of the internet sales managers, the ability to leverage dealer against dealer in a given region or nationwide and a great forum like ours you aren't going to save much (< 2% ~$1500) by waiting and it will cost you the next two years of enjoyment.
The other side of that equation is that with MB offering such low financing / lease rates the potential money saved by waiting will most likely be eaten up in interest / lower residuals. I can't imagine rates like the current 1.1% - 1.6% APR being here long after the economy starts to heat up again which I certainly hope is before 2013.

How do u figure that 2014 would be a new redesign, that would mean a 4 year design cycle for the W212. Typically MB has a 6-7 year design cycle with a refresh after the 3rd or 4th year. The current SL is going on 8 years. I guess the W213 would arrive 2016 or 2017.

Dude, just get the car, lol. I think you're being a bit too tactful with your finances on this one, as like was said above: "You'll never catch the Train".
The next E will be out as a 2017 (MY). The W212 is a brand new body style, so thinking about the next body style already, will have you waiting forever!
The facelifted W212 wil be out as a 2014 MY (alongside the next S-Class).

The W212 is an awesome car. Solid. No rattles and more than sufficient power. Wait till sept/oct of this yeah when the 2012 models are released with new motors and make a screamin deal on a 2011 with factory incentives to close out 2011's.

I should have just gotten that damn E63!
Speaking of which, and on the subject of 2011 blowout deals when the 2012's arrive. Last year there were some people who got E63's for almost as much as I paid for my E350 (I got mine in the Summer, pre-Winter/Blow-Out incentives), after the M-B $20K trunk money, and "Clearance" Sales/Negotiations, etc.
This year, with the new AMG motors coming, bet that you can STEAL a leftover 2011 E63, if you so choose to throw caution to the wind. Not to mention, if another "Gas Crunch" hits, with prices going through the roof, the AMG's will be in even less demand than they are now, and that means goooood deals.
.... You'll just have to put up with the cheap honk-alarm.
