Premium vs. Regular Gas Poll

Hello Gentle people,

The Discussion about Premium vs. Regular Gas is always interesting and one of the hot topics out there. Out of curiosity, let’s have a poll of what type of gas people are using on their beloved W212.

Please do not discuss any reasoning or debating in this thread. Strictly poll please. There are some other threads discussing this kind of awesome topics - Thank you.

So... here are the options:

A. Always Premium Unleaded, min 91 Octane and above.
B. Always Regular Unleaded
C. Mix

I will start….

Mine is A – Always Premium!

Okay so I'm breaking your 'rule' of no discussion of using reason. So let's say I'm sorry but seriously what's the point? MB recommends 91 AKI as the minimum. Why would somebody put fuel in the car that's not recommended only to save a few cents? Is there some compelling reason to use less than 91 AKI or 93 RON?

Yeah, well my questions were purely rhetorical.
And I refuse to read another long debate about fuel.

They pop up every month or so and are redundant. Nothing really new to read except people talking just for the sake of talking. Car forums do tend to get repetitive over time.

People can do whatever they want with their cars, imho. Whatever makes one feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Or maybe make life simple and just do what the manufacturer prefers, and go on with more important things in life.

I only use 87. Ever since I bought the car, I haven't been able to justify the extra cost of 91. I haven't noticed any difference.

Please inform us of your Vin # when you sell/give back the car, so we can make sure that none of us buy it if for any reason we're in the market for a Used W212!

Yea also those pesky oil changes are pointless. Dont change the oil... Ever!!! I dont see how you can justify the extra cost of new oil.
I am sure you wont notice any difference.

I think perhaps the smartest thing to do is to use the least expensive oil you can find. I mean oil is oil. And those viscosity numbers are simply marketing scams. Best of all is you can then spend the savings at Starbucks. A soy latte is much more satisfying in the long run.

I wish that were true. Refining processes= differences in purity (hydrocracker vs solvent), additive packages, crude grades of oil, synthetic grade (A) crude versus true synthetic (man made). Most people don't know that most synthetic oils come from the ground. Only a couple company's produce a true pure synthetic oil. So there is a big difference in oils. Not all oil that comes out of the ground is the same quality. It's always good to know what grade crude oil your putting in your motors. Mobil 1 is a grade A hydrocracker refined crude oil, not a true synthetic but meets "criteria" to be designated a "synthetic". Total misrepresentation I always thought. To me it's always good to know exactly what goes in your motor and what's really behind that label cause in some cases, it's a big difference and your paying for a name with low quality oil, and in some cases the cheaper oil is just as good or better. It's like who makes that cheap wal-mart branded oil? Conoco does and it's better than most of the branded oils on the shelf but with the label, most people just think it's a crappy oil.

Premium. I know nothing about auto technology. For starters, I'd be embarrassed if someone saw me pumping regular on a Mercedes. Enf said.

Waa ha ha ha...
Westwind... I really like your comments and for some reason I cannot stop laughing reading your comments, "I'd embarrassed if someone saw me pumping regular on a Mercedes...."

That's probably the real reasoning but.. this is the coolest and most straight forward comment.

Okay.. Keep polling people!

Did you really think I was serious? I had hoped the Starbucks reference would have helped with the subtlety of the sarcasm.

I was hoping not!!! Sometimes I fly off the handle before I think about the intent of the post & missed the sarcasm until I thought about it. Lol. Problem though there are people who think exactly that.

I didn't even touch on polymers and viscosities either, was going to save it for later, lol.
