MB 'Winter Serivce'

Hi,
I just received an email from MB promoting their "Winter Service" and "Tire Care" program. I dont have 4 matic, and lately these winters are getting riskier than it is considered norm for my area.

My question is, what do they do in addition to what comes standard with the car? Do they install 'snow tires', do something with the braking system? Sorry, I do not understand auto technology. Please assist whether it is worth a shot or not. I can find all the finer details like cost, etc by calling them.

Thanks.

Its simple. If you have extra money to spend, buy tires from MB. If not, the TireRack all the way - with installation and tax you may save 40% or so.

Don't bother for this year, Winter is over. The OP is right, Tire Rack is the place. I have been using them for years. They have great prices and service. The big savings are on wheel and tire packages. Delivery within four days usually.

Do you guys have tire rack ship the tires to your local tire shop and have them installed there? I presume you arent having tires shipped to your house?

I never have them shipped to anyone but me. I put them in the trunk and take them to one of several local places that will mount them for me. There are some **** retentive businesses that won't mount tires if they don't sell them but that's their loss. I've always been able to find someone to do it.

TireRack has thousands of "recommended" installers (some are even dealers, but not MB) throughout the country that will except shipment from the TireRack (so that you do not have to bother and to look for a place to install them) and will install them on your car. Just enter your zip code and have fun picking.

I have always had them shipped to my home. If you buy wheels and tires, you can chose to have them mount and balance the wheels before shipping. There is no charge for this. The guys at tire rack are good and they know their stuff.
