Smile Am I Normal? - First Mercedes!!

Hello All !! I have purchased my first Mercedes. (E3504M) I am so excited! BUT ... Is it normal to first look at the factory online - then check out Bremerhaven(shipping Port)online -- now my vehicle is on the cargo ship Courage -- so I went to their site to see the departure and arrival time -- Now I found a site to track where the ship is in the North Atlantic -- My car will be arriving in Baltimore on April 15th -- Is this normal that I want to check up on her (my car) as she travels? Thanks!

Lol, not at all. If I'd ordered mine from the get-go, I probably would have done the same thing.

On the BMW Boards they have Threads all over about who's car is on what Ship, and viewing them Online, etc.

If you aren't normal, neither am I. I'm tracking my 3rd E-Class in the last 7 years. It's an E550 on the Cepheus Leader which transversed the Panama Canal a couple of days ago. It's due into LA on the 15th.

We're getting fresh cars built to our exact specifications so it's worth the wait.

I have ordered most of my new MB's (18 since 1983) and I go through all this crap each time. If it is not normal, I can assure you there is no cure.

I also bought my first Benz last fall in early October. Have been wanting to be able to do that for a long time. Finally did and it means to me perhaps more than most in this forum, but that is another story.

For you to be doing all that for your car while waiting for it is just awesome. I hope I could do that myself but I'm too impatient. I just go to a dealer and see what they have available. Luckily they had one with P2 and drive dynamic seat. At the time of my purchase I did not think I want the driver assist package but now I do so my next car will have it.

Have a good wait for your car. It is well worth it.

Here's my ship going through the Minaflores Locks of the Panama Canal. I had to track that sucker for two days while it was waiting to get permission to enter the canal. As you can tell, I have no life.

What options did you get? I'm assuming it's not the ussual spec cars on dealer's lots.

If you look at some of the sites for shipping, you see lots of people doing this who ordered their cars. I did it with mine. The salesperson was helpful in that he would e-mail me when it reached the port, got shipped, arrived in USA, etc.

The order I placed was not different, but after checking three dealerships, they all said none were available. Several Rear Wheel Drives with my configuration were available. However since I am in the north I wanted a 4matic. At the time I was in no rush as long as I had it by spring. As time goes by I am not as patient as I thought.

My car came into Baltimore and was at the dealer two days later. I have driven just over 100 miles so far and am VERY impressed with the car. AWESOME. While there may never be a perfect car, I would say this one is darn close.

Take no comfort in all of the responses that insist that you are not abnormal. All of these people are completely and totally insane!! Need I say more. Enjoy. Ned.
