C vs S

Is there a way to always drive in Sport mode without having to push the button. I have an E350 2010

No, unfortunately You will always have to select the S after the ignition is turned off.

That's another stupidity from MB - just because they want to go green, you have to remember to push button every time you switch off the engine...

Very annoying.

It's actually funny, because in my W211, the tranny in "S" mode was such a jerky and unrefined disaster, that I enjoyed "C" more, also, my driving style isn't very aggressive, so "C" suited me better.

Now, I can't stand driving in "C", as it feels so much more sluggish off the line. I'm not talking about racing around on the crowded streets, I mean that the car just feels like it's missing a gear.... Which is is. In "S", it feels lighter and peppier to get moving. I also feel like it doesn't affect MPG much, although I do have a light foot. If anything, I feel like "S" might get better MPG.

A few different ones
I agree ... I wish they made it so you have a choice of the default mode ... I like 'S' better and always have to push the button ...

I am programmed, after I start my car I select S and I also hit the back button on the command so the screan removes the icons. The only good thing about defaulting back to C is that if my girlfriend drives my car, she doesn't know any better to hit the S, its not as peppy for her. She has enough trouble as it is. lol

It starts off in 2nd gear in C mode according to a salesguy at the dealership.

I think 2:nd gear start is great for stop and go traffic. Always push the W button on my old 430 when driving around in the city. Becomes a much smoother drive at low speeds.

What icons? When I start my car I see nav, radio, or whatever I was last using. I do not have an icon screen that I know of. Am I missing something?
