In the upper section of your glovebox there is a UCI (Universal Consumer Interface) port. Your car comes with a cable that supports either an iPod or an MP3 player and it will be plugged into that UCI port. If you go to the dealer, you can buy a USB cable for about $55. Then you can replace the iPod/MP3 cable that came with your car with the USB cable and use USB devices. Check your COMAND manual.

Probably the best mass storage device for your music. Much cheaper than any Ipod and you can always leave it in the car at all times. If your not familiar with this, get ready cause this will be the main storage device for our music. You can pick up a 16g card for around 30 dollars. That kind of music storage is hard to come by for that price, especially in such a small package. They do have 128gb cards. Looks for the prices to drop as they get more common. You could literally have all of your entire families music collection on a single card smaller than a match book.

I just started fiddling with this. I picked up the MB PCMCIA adaptor the other day (~$90) and threw an 8gb SDHC card in there with a few folders containing MP3s. Worked like a charm. I could see this being the primary music source for the car. Navigation seemed speedy although it was a limited test. I understand that playlists are not supported through this interface but that doesn't really bother me.
I think SanDisk makes a PCMCIA "6-in-1" that accepts various types of media and that is purported to work. Not sure if the MB card accepts anything other than an SD card but I have a bunch of those laying around. I also have CF cards strewn about and the MB adaptor will definitely not accept those.

Virtually all type of cards as long as you can find the PCMCIA adapter(s) for them. Here is the link for a Sandisk 6-1 PCMCIA PC Card Adapter. I believe this will work but can't guarantee since I don't have it.
I have a Transcend CF Type II PCMCIA adapter which I can put CF-II cards in there of course. I then have a SD to CF-II adapter and then MicroSD to SD adapter. So I can now use either CF-II, SD and MicroSD.
