mixed feedback...

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum and just got my first MB (2011 BLK Sports E350 4matic sedan w/p1) last friday. This car is far more superior in quality and performance compared to any car I've driven in the past. I love this car but I think it could use a bit more power though it is sufficient for day to day driving.

Anyways, I got mix feedback when I drove out with friends this weekend and some told me the car is for more mature group of people (I'm 26 years old) others tell me its great and very sporty. It doesn't bother me at all what people say because when i'm sitting in the car I feel like I'm in my own realm apart from the outside world. But I just want to have a better idea what other people might think on this forum.

I am 26 and I am on my 2nd E-Class.

I wouldn't worry about what anyone else thinks if you like the car. I get a variety of comments on a regular basis with regard to being a younger person driving what is perceived by most to be a very nice car.

While the average age of an E-Class driver is more than likely older than 26, I see a lot of young professionals driving E's and cars in the same class.

This has been discussed on here in the past, and other users commented, and I would agree, that a large reason most mid-twenties guys/girls don't drive an E-Class isn't because they think it is to mature, but rather it isn't a prudent financial decision at that age.

Enjoy the car.

-M

Hater's gonna hate!

It's your car that YOU own. Don't let others say anything to bring you down...

I get the same crap all the time too. I just tell them it's my dad's car.

Oh yea, your at that age where your more worried about what others think than what you think. I remember those days. Some day you'll learn to live for you and not others or you'll just be miserable.

These Threads are ridiculous. Who cares man, you bought the car, you think it looks hot, MANY people obviously think it looks hot, hence its enormous popularity, etc. etc.

The only thing that makes this car fit for a mature group is its price tag, so yeah, it is for a more mature group.... And fit for a "young" person who can swing it and wants something comfortable, roomy, safe, stylish, and stately.

+1.

Im a lot older than the op, but have owned a W210 when it first came out and when I was about the ops age, a W211 and now my W212. Could care less what everyone else thought and I was/am very happy with my rides.

Word!

When I was in High School and had a fixed up/boy racer Mustang GT, I'd always want to take out (steal when she wasn't home) my Moms bone stock, bare-bones E34, and later, E39 5-Series'. My other friend used to do that with his Moms bone stock W210 E320.

I've always fawned over Luxury Cars, and always wanted them, however, it's usually a pricing issue, and priorities also, in regards to what you desire most out of a car.

My Girlfriend is in her early-mid 20's, and her friends all love my "fancy car". So O/P, there you go, you can't get a more shallow and braggart boost than that can ya? Girls in their early 20's like it! It's not an old persons car after all! Rejoice!!

Not sure why you would not have driven the car before purchase. Smells fishy to me.

I thought so too. This is the most classic way to troll an M-B Forum ("old person stigma").

Who knows, if it's true, then O/P, don't listen to the real life trolls.

Yes your right who cares as long as I'm happy with what I got but I'm not trying to get reassurance here. I'm just happy I got my car and wanted to started a convo here and get some insights from other mb owners.

and yes i didn't test drive the car before I purchased it. Why do I need to? its a dam mercedes e350! 100 years of engineering and this is probably like the 10th generation of the E class? I read enough reviews and trust this german maker. All my past cars were japanese and korean. Therefore I didn't think I need to test drive it but I did sit in one to feel the awesome interior

Nothing fishy about not driving before purchase... I never drove a 212 before purchasing mine and only saw my car for a min tops as I walked by it.

Same here, I never test drive a car before buying.

However at 26 I would probably be driving a more age appropriate car like a Corvette, Porsche, Shelby Mustang....

Well, unlike the OP, you obviously had your friend's approval before buying your untested vehicle.

I actually test drove the C300 and was ready to buy it, then my pops comes down to the dealership to check out the car (he is an MB lover)...he tells me his "dream car" has always been the E350 (and E320 in the past) and I should look at that. So I sat in the drivers seat...and was sold. I'm so glad I bout the 350 even with the price difference...it's just much more luxury and classy than the C300. And I can switch cars with my pops now and then....

Not really. In hindsight I probably should have test driven one. My bro knew a MB fleet manager that gave me an offer over the phone on the W212 that I couldn't pass up.

I have always been a fan of MB since early childhood with my parents first MB, the 450SEL to the countless MBs our family has owned to my previous rides, the W210 and W211.

Was also a no brainer, either paying 35K+ for a used CPO W211 or paying a lil more for a new W212. I thank the MB sales morons that I dealt with when looking for a W211 prior to my purchase of the W212.

I agree with opinion of your friends, the car is more for matured people. But again it is very individual, your biological age and mind age can be different, so your body can be young, but your mind is 40 yo. Actually it is really good, becasue it can bring you a big success in life, and you already do good steps.

I actually dont think of the car as for 'matured people'. Just look at some of them on this forum...KA, Park, EME247...the cars look good and classy - whether you are in your 20's or 40's....to me age is pretty much a non-issue. I'm 40, but my car looks like a 20-something year old modified it....but I like it.

Corvette?! That has to have the oldest demographic of owners ever!

Most Vette drivers seem to be retired grey hairs (golf shirt, kaki shorts, sandals, the whole shabang).

Actually funny, I was hanging out on the Bimmer Boards, and came across a similar Thread. Seems the less confident young'ins who choose big comfy Luxury Sedans will always be haunted with the "geezer bug".
