Thoughts on HK system?
The HK system is OK, think it needs a little more bump.

Has anyone added a small 10/12" sub to compliment there stereo?

it's fine to me, but then I'm not a stereo guy....
I know a few cats have added AM stereo's.......
it's just another money sucker to me, LOL......
and I'm a musician too..........haha

It does lack some bass output, but to me the Logic 7 function is partially to blame as it seems to cancel out some of the sub bass frequencies and it also colors the sound of the upper range. It sounds like it has a reverse phase affect of one channel making the soundstage obscure. Anyway if it is on, turn it off and see if it improves any. Should sound a lot better.

I was very disappointed with if for a while, but I have finally got the bass and treble adjusted to be acceptable (bass all the way up less one and treble one up from mid level). I am surprised some techy hasn't found a simple way to add a little more thump (replace stock 'sub' with a more efficient sub with it's own little amp, etc. etc.). Would consider a plug and play option where no more wiring than in the trunk. Come on techies, give me a simple solution to get a little more bass that requires no more than plugging into outputs in the trunk.

We have had some lively discussions on the forum about this issue. Some like it, some consider it distinctly mediocre. I'm somewhere in the middle but more toward mediocre and I'm a long time audiophile with a $10,000 after market stereo in my 2001 e55. I find the mid and upper frequencies reasonably clean and open sounding, although somewhat thin on either over the air radio or satellite radio(I think the satellite radio is pretty mediocre sounding), better on cd's. The mid and low bass is definitely lacking, I don't care how much you crank the tone controls. Earlier this week a member mentioned that he had a 12 inch sub with Alpine amp installed to good effect, I think he was from LA. There is no question that the top of the line sound systems in Audi and BMW are better. The sound system is in the zone of embarrassing for the top of the line offering in a car this expensive. I added a sub and took out the HK 6x9 sub....it sounds great. I like the HK system, but wanted more bass. Added an amp just to power the sub as well....

U think it would be hard to fit a quality 8" sub where 6x9 is
Located and hide an amp in trunk out of way and take signal from existing amp?

U obviously need to open it up and add an amp.

I'm going for a single jl sub and amp as I have good luck with that setup. Pics to come..
