Just bought My first Mercedes!

Just bought my first Mercedes!.....Well....technically I owned a 2008 E350 for 12 hours, but that doesn't count...

I don't have pictures yet (but I'm sure you know what they look like anyway)

Details:

Iridium Silver
Black Interior
Sport Pack
P1
P2
Parktronic
Split-Fold Seats
Burl Walnut Trim

MSRP $58855, paid $50706 + Tax and License. (This includes 4K Conquest cash). I felt this was a good deal - It was my offer to the dealer and I figure it got me a good deal while also respecting their business. I've read some go lower, but I figured $590 under invoice was good enough.

The only "issue" is that it came equipped with the 17-inch wheels off of a bluetech - I noticed it immediately and we can't figure out how it happened - The service department was closed already, but I'm going back tomorrow to have the proper 18" wheels swapped in.

I have only driven it the 6 miles back to the house from the dealership, but so far I'm quite pleased. I originally ordered a BMW 535i, but the dealer ordered me the wrong car - which killed that relationship rather quickly

We didn't have time for a full "delivery" so tomorrow I'll also get the detailed walk-through.

Anyway - Happy to be driving a Mercedes.

Congratulations on the car. I have the E350 Bluetec with the 17" wheels. I actually prefer the ride with the 17's Vs 18's. Also less chance of pot hole damage. I think you will really enjoy your car. I have had mine about 9 months and 20K virtually trouble free miles. A wonderful vehicle that just seems to keep getting better as the miles pile on.

Yea - they look fine and ride fine, its just not supposed to have them. I'm surprised the dealer didn't notice when they took delivery.

Wow... that's a fantastic price. You paid $50k + tax etc including all those options?

In Canada, the same car is around $68k.

Congratulations and welcome!! FYI, I live in NJ with crappy roads and changed from the 18 inch AMG rims to 17 inch rims after having a double blowout approaching the Lincoln Tunnel last February. The car drives and handles modestly better with the 18's as you would expect. I do believe that the airmatic shocks on my e550 does result in more blowouts than one would experience with the standard(even sport) suspension. Enjoy. Ned.

stay well,

Yea - I was pretty shocked. I told them its not like they sell shoes and I walked in asking for BMW, which somehow confused them..I mean, they order cars EVERY OTHER WEEK....but I guess things happen for a reason.

@ MCF: Turns out the wheels were actually the 17inch rims from a sports-wagon (similar to a blue-tech at first glance, but different side-by-side). I got them switched out for the proper 18" sports pack rims.

@telemakhos: Yep - That's what I told them I wanted to pay and that I wanted $800 more for my trade. I explained it well and in detail, I made sure to be professional about it - not arrogant or snobby, just the plain facts backed by a sound rational.

This is why more and more Canadians are shopping south of the border for even big ticket items like cars. I can't blame business for charging what the market will bear though - we are capitalists after all.

Enjoy your ride!

There is a few E classes out there that were build with the bluetec 17" wheels. Option code is 326 and includes the 17" sport wheels from the E350 BTC.

Window sticker had no option codes for wheels - we looked.

Scary part was the window sticker didn't list it as a sports package (didn't say luxury either for that matter). So at first I thought it was a luxury model - but it had the cross-drilled rotors, the right front end, the right grill, the right fog lights, bright-work guages, etc.

Im alwasy a bit tentative about mods on my new cars - I do a alot to my older stuff.

The only think I'd probably like to do is pump up the HP a bit - get it to a nice even 300 - but not sure how do do that on this car and then there's the warranty to think about. I did see a gadget for like $200 that supposed to increase HP but 20% (or something like that) and is easy to wire in - but again...not sure how much trust I put in "gadgets"
