510 miles on the new W212 E350 and car dies on me
Today I was at the drive thru getting some food. I feel a pop from the rear and I thought the car behind me rear ended me. I walk outside and the car is still far away. I walk back into the car and notice that the car shut off. I try to start the car again and it just keeps on cranking. Eventually the employees of the restaurant have to help me push the car into the parking lot to wait for AAA. Going to call Mercedes Roadside assistance in the morning.
Anyone else have this problem? I was thinking it was a fuse blown by that sound but all the fuses look good.

Completely inexcusable for a brand new car... I would demand an exchange... who knows what else is bad in there..

Check your glove box and center console to see if the factory supplied jar of Grey Poupon has been properly installed. My gut feeling, based solely on how trouble free my E350 Bluetec has been, is that this is something really simple. No idea what could have given you the sensation of being hit from the rear unless it was exhaust related. When I purchased mine, I made the dealership promise me a Mercedes Benz, and, so far it has lived up to the promise. Keep us posted.

It's probably coincidental, but they did tell you during your pick up orientation to the car that you had to put fuel in it.

It is not a common occurrence, but, new parts can go bad right away. As I have not read any posts of others with bad fuel pumps, I would suspect that this is an isolated occurrence. I feel the OP's pain, but, these things do happen, and it is a simple fix that will not likely cause any other issues. I hope this is the biggest problem the OP encounters.

Well they put in the fuel pump today and the car started and ran. What they found out was that the fuel line was leaking causing high pressure that blow out the fuel pump. So now they have to special order the fuel line from Germany.

I'd be pretty pissed if that happened. That's the thing with direct injection - cutting edge german engineering coupled with low quality chinese manufacturing just don't mix. It's downright scary when you're running a multi-hundred PSI component in the car. If you've ever had a intercooler hose let go at 22psi you can appreciate how much pressure the fuel is under.

For a bad fuel pump? I guess you can demand anything. I have found that arrogance generally does not help much when resolving issues. Demanding a new car because of a failed fuel pump is likely to land you on the "wack-o list".
