Diffuser

Hi guys>

got my diffuser on although I am kind of unhappy with it right now...

I tried 3 other places: the dealer, they said NO, an indy shop, they said NO, and then another guy the indy shop recommended; he didn't have a LIFT, so he was out too....
today I went to place that I have been before, a good place in Apex, NC.
The thing went on, but the 'factory' clips are bullchit, after you drill the rivets out and put new ones on, you have to secure another spot that wasn't mentioned by the 'boys' at ACG. Luckily this shop has the skill and know how (mercedes only) to do on the spot stuff like extra brackets and other extra things it needed in spots.......and there are still gaps....you can't make out the amg tips on the exhaust....
I do like the way it's going to look, but it looks like the bumper may indeed have to come off for some extra fitting to close the gaps...

Was wondering when the modding would begin...

Not sure which diffuser that is, but I don't like the gap. You can see each and every piece of tape.

My thoughts on diffusers... It's not like you are going to remove the diffuser... Ever... So why bother with tape... Have them drill in the diffuser and make it more permanent losing the gap.

woah that looks badass. So what's wrong with it? Is your car an E63? If not where did you get the exhaust? Thanks!

What brand is that. Also you if u can find thin weather stripping that would cover the gap and look oem. I've done it plenty of times

brand name is vorsteiner, found them through this forum..........
that isn't a bad idea about the weather strip, I'll have to wait and see...
I do like the look overall, and the carbon fiber itself is very nice.....

The carbon fiber looks good, is the gap noticeable when standing and looking down at the bumper or looking at it from about 5 feet away? If so, then I suppose a refit is necessary. sux when the mods aren't perfect.
What about getting a CF trunk spoiler...front lip? Full CF sideview mirror exchange would top it all off... very jealous

thanx Park, I do like the look too, been hunting for a diffuser since last year; finally settle on one, and it's been such a bite in the *** process.......and yes, the gap is noticable if your looking, probably (hopefully) not AS much when I'm blowing past people, lol....
+1 about the side mirrors and spoiler,
I have considered a CF spoiler, and mirrors; kind of weary right now of these guys selling stuff online, and not being able to put my hands on it you know?

Ouch, that sucks! Would it go back to normal with the stock diffuser, or is it an issue with the OEM clips (now damaged or something), rather than the fit of the aftermarket diffuser?

I got my CF spoiler from JL Motors (I think) off of ebay, happy with it so far, I had one on my C that I got from a Chinese vendor off ebay and the thing faded from the sunlight etc within one year, the one I have now is still like new.

I think the CF ducklip spoiler would look better on the E62, more agressive...

You can always wrap them in CF wrap. It doesn't sound like it would be as quality of a mod, however, it's kind of a double edged sword. A lot of these CF bits and pieces aren't tried and tested, so they can be vulnerable to premature aging, breaking, etc., while the CF wrap is proven (and a lot cheaper). On the flip side, real bonafide CF will look and feel better (also, you can get it in a gloss finish), you just gotta make sure you buy a reputable piece from a quality maker/vendor.

Vorsteiner is usually the best from what I've seen on these forums.

Hyp... Don't let this one product turn u off vor...

Usually good fitment and tops in quality. Might be an unlucky piece that is a lil off. U can't make everyone happy 100% of the time. I saw the other thread in e63 and understand how unhappy u r bout it. I would feel the same in your shoes but I'm sure the support for the product will take care of u.

Vic got vor and the thread by acg about vor parts and pics look sick.

Gl bro and keep modding that b1tch.

Was taking a good look at the pics of the diffuser in the acg/vorsteiner in the e63 forum and it doesn't even seem like they used double stick tape. Comparing their pic to yours, it seems like there is an even gap between the piece and bumper and no tape in between. The gap actually looks a little larger than the one on your install. I don't think you can even see the tips like you can on your install. For sure the amg logo can't be seen like yours...

no doubt! I have been looking at those pix non stop, haha, there isn't any tape on mine, and with those extra brackets, those gaps are where the plastic tabs would be on that side, I guess that could be jacking it down, but I don't think so, gotta go back and have the bumper come off for a perfect fit....
I am incredibly unlikely to buy from ACG ever again...
