Which car to buy or just second W212?

I dunno, I just checked and XF's are Leasing for $599 with almost $4K down. About the same as the E350. Obviously I choose the E, but on paper, with the 5.0L 385 HP motor, etc. the Jag is a damn nice "bang for the buck", especially if it's a second car (keeping it at a level maybe not as paramount to you as a primary car).
With how desperate Jag is to move these slow moving things, I'll bet you can work some pretty nice discounts.

I don't think that's comparable....

Nope, they don't even offer a V6 in the U.S (stupid move if you ask me, and a reason that Sales are so low, people in this segment don't care about HP, they'd rather the simple more efficient V6 and a lower price to boot).
True, but remember, that is about exactly M-B's *Official* Lease rates for the E350 ($599, $4-5K drive-off after all bills). For some reason or another, M-B gives enough incentives to practically give the E-Class away and make a mockery of its MSRP price.
My P2 E with its options should technically be Leasing for about $700-$800+ if you go by official numbers and add the additional costs, but obviously, that isn't the case.
$599 WITH $4k down.... so with no money down, you pay that $4k over the life of the lease...say 33 mos....so it's another $125/mo. True lease price for comparison is about $725/mo plus tax. I'm paying under $500 for my P2 e350 on a 24 mo lease.
I don't think that's comparable....

It depends on your budget. An S550 or even a 7 series will be nice. If you are looking at a mid-sized like your current E, I would go for the 5 series. I've seen the 535 with the M Sport Package in the street and looks nice. We had an 2008 535i, and I can say the interior quality and fit/finish was superior to the W212. We like our E but I have to say Mercedes dropped the ball on some of the interior qualities.

As for the Lotus you seriously cannot daily drive that car. Never driven an Evora but for the Elise I've built more comfortable track cars that are just as difficult to get into LOL.
Sorry to be off topic. How about the 535i? Way sportier than the E350 and easy to make an extra 50whp if you want to reflash it. Downside is less amenities and more expensive? I was about 10 minutes away from picking up a 535i before the salesman pissed me off when I bought the E350. Love the E350 but the 535 is definitely a change of pace...

Interesting, I spent a lot of time with a 2008 E60 5-Series and aside from M-B ripping off the interior styling a bit, the E's feels like it's in a whole different (higher) league. BMW's interiors were a little harsh and cheap last time around (much better for this generation).

I agree. Totally classic M-B 70's/80's interior to me too. Very angular, solid as a brick, very serious and sober (relative to most interior offerings), and a soothing ambiance. It speaks security and durability/quality over any other traits IMO.

The Camaro is a POS. That vette you are referring to is a ZRI, one of the fastest production cars o the road..

well, Camero may be that, but it sure is going to be fast; stock fast too....and there's just something aggressive about the new bodies I really like....no doubt any Camero I've evr been in was plastic feeling and weak, but the trim in the 2SS has stitched leather and that bit going for it.....
it's a sweet car that is fast.....and inexpensive....

Ask yourself why did you buy the E350 over comparable cars? If the reasons still hold and you are not disappointed buy another E class. The 2012 model will have many refinements over your current model and will be a better experience. Keep in mind, the other car is your wife's car and this one is for you. If both cars were for your sole use you would want something completely different but this is not the case.
The people recommending a Porsche,Corvette,Camaro are really silly. They are toy cars, fun to drive on a Sunday cruise but as a daily driver they will rattle the fillings right out of your teeth.
PS Don't get me wrong I love owning a Porsche 911 but they are like a pet. They are a lot of fun but useless. My wife keeps telling me that you have to hate your money to buy such a useless car.

I like how this Thread is living on and O/P hasn't even shown back up in it, lol.
I think everyone just has fun talking about this subject.
Update on my part. I didn't know the new Jeep Grand Cherokee's are so damn "cheap" regarding slightly used (or so well priced brand new) models. I'm not an SUV guy in the least, but for what I'd like a second car for (ultimate beater, park it outside, don't wash it, take it anywhere, lots of long distance driving, safety, etc.) it would be fun, plus a nice contrast from the E-Class.... Plus, it's got Benz DNA.

KA - It has Benz DNA in its bones, but, the engines and transmissions are pure Chrysler. Hit or miss in the power train department. Of course there is also a class action suit against MB/AMG for the 6.2. Who knows any more.

true enough, TOY cars, LOL.....can't disagree with that one Peetee,
and I'm not really a corvette kind of guy, although I am tall and slender....haha...
despite the price-I'm not made of money, LOL, and since it would be a toy.....over 100k is too much.....haha....
I saw some pix of the new Jeep with some hood scoops, the body is nice, but I still don't really like Jeep, unless it's a CJ-7....now THAT is a jeep....
