DIY: Plasti Dip
I been wanted to black out my trunk trim for a while... I wasn't sure if I wanted to go with vinyl or plasti dip, but I decided to try plasti dip first, since it's only $7 per can. Best part about plasti dip is that I can peel it off when I want... I hope I don't get flamed for doing plasti dip on 55k car. lol.
Anyway, I thought I would share some pictures with you guys.
I probably going to de-badge my "E 350" because looks so out of place.
What you guys think?
Here is my car:
Prep...
Final result
You can actually spot some areas because it wasn't completed dried yet.

Yeah, the finish of plasti dip just isn't that quality, and I've heard it doesn't wear well and attracts dirt. I'd go vinyl tape if I were you (matte or gloss).
IMO, if you're gonna black that piece out, you should start de-chroming more elements of the car too.

It's funny how you praise other members that done same thing as what I did but with real painted, but mine looks bad even though it's ****ing same mod? what looks terrible? my un-dried finished plasti dip, or blacked out trunk trim?

Window trims would be much faster and easier to go through tape than spray.

For my vinyl stuff I just went to a shop, I can't draw or handwrite for sh**, so it would have been a disaster in the making.
I gotta agree, maybe it's the wet-spots, but it definitely doesn't look right in the pics. I'd recommend trying the vinyl as it'd probably be a more reliable finish from the plasti-dip.

Google for some Tint Shops in your area, and more likely, car mod/sticker shops, as they can either apply it for you, or sometimes they sell the vinyl. Other than that, I'm sure there are Online vendors that sell 'em (vinyl tape for cars), or better yet some that are close to you.

I might try your suggestion...
I am going to look around for some vinyl tape. I think the trunk trim should easy, not sure about the window trims.

Han: no disrespect....love the car, love the color....
just think of it as extra 'inspiration' okay?
and yes, go for the badge delete...saw a 350 today and it was pretty plain back there, would look good smooth...
keep us postered......

I just want to make sure that I get the tape that wide enough to cover the whole piece. I think 3-4 inch width vinyl should cover the whole thing.
I definitely want do this right, not some mickey mouse job.
Soon as I have something, I will keep you guys posted.
Thank, brah.
