Couple of questions about my new 2011 E-350
Hey guys,
Let me start by telling you how much I love this car...it is truly teriffic!
Couple of questions I can't locate in the manuals:
1. (This might be hard to describe) When you are using command, the screen highlights in bright white your current selection or where you push the knob. If you move the knob, the white hightlighted section moves to where you move the joystick. The problem is, especially at night, the highlighted white section is way too bright, I end up moving the joystick until I highlight the smallest word to reduce the brightness. I have adjusted the overall screen brightness, but the highlighted area is still very bright.
I don't want to get rid of the bright, I want to be able to cancel all selections on the screen so I just have the brown color scheme of the monitor. This happens naturally when you first turn on the car, nothing is highlighted...how do I get it back to that non-highlighted state after using a function?
2. How do I increase the font size on the Nav? The actual fonts on the actual map, not the bar on the top or bottom.
Thanks

1. Are you sure you're using night mode at nighttime? If you go to the settings menu and click on the lower left hand corner, the Display setting should be on Automatic. This way, at night, the colors will dim and show darker colors. If you are on night mode and see the black/blue display rather than the yellow/brown display, then I can't help you.
2. I don't think you can enlarge the map font...

I am not sure if this will solve your problem but try hitting the 'back' button ... when I use the radio, after I am done selecting my station I do the back button and I beleive this might fix what is bothering you.
Also like the poster above said, do you have your car set up to switch to night Mode automatically ?

I believe that if you are in nav mode, after a relatively brief delay the map becomes full screen with no cursor. Try just leaving the display completely alone for a minute.
I have absolutely no solution for the tiny type fonts...perhaps the German people have much better eyes than americans.

Press the "back" button next to the dial. That will take you out of the menus. I am not where I can try this right now, but, I think I have done this before. Maybe I am not remembering correctly though.

Thart is strange becasue I just tried it on my car in radio mode and it gets rid of the 'white' selector ...
I tried it in telephone mode and it doesn't work ... the white selector is still there ...
In nav mode how about going to full screen

As ImInPA stated, the back button removes the menus. Another way to do this when the cursor is in the bottom right, highlighting "destination," push the joystick forward, which will also remove the menus. (Admittedly, I prefer Im's method, as it is much easier, but did not realize worked until reading here.)
Now with menus removed, you have a "full screen" view of Nav. Turn your joy stick *** to the right, and it will serve as a "zoom" function, enlarging the map area.

the system is smart enough to know which volume you are adjusting and it will remember it. If you turn up the volume of the radio when the radio is playing, it won't effect the navigation volume. If you adjust the navigation volume while it is speaking, the system knows that you just want to change the volume of the navigation and it doesn't adjust any other volumes.

Rather than having to wait and catch her saying something to increase the volume, I believe you can press the repeat button and that will force the last voice instruction to be spoken again.
