Airmatic Issue

The airmatic suspension has been giving me a bit of trouble lately. Every morning I wake up to a very low driver side rear. The car has about 7000 miles on it so I just brought in the car to the dealer as they diagnosed the problem to be a leaky airmatic valve. Well they fixed it and the following morning same problem... I'm thinking about bringing it in again. What do you guys think? Airmatic strut or sensor?

If you have no issue when driving then I doubt that its a sensor or strut problem.
The car continually adjusts the suspension when parked for a limited time (I dont know how long)
If you have time read a book in your garage and listen to see if the pump is continually running after parking, if so then you have a leak somewhere.
If it lowers without the pump trying to adjust then you maybe right about the sensor or maybe the Airmatic processor under the front passenger side floor.

AMG over the weekend was also low after being parked for a few days, e550 at the bottom of the link: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...-warranty.html

Starting to think this is normal... unless it is sitting on the tires or pump constantly running...

I had the same issue on my 2011 E550, both rear struts replaced at 6500 miles.

I had the same issues with the right rear. I had to bring it in twice before they said it was a leaky valve. The first time, my struts/bags was replaced. I just hope on the long run, we all don't run into these..."starting to be common" problems.

It never occurred to me that there might be a problem. I have noticed that my two rear shocks are way lower every morning than when I park it the night before. As soon as I start the car in the morning, the compressor goes on and the rear shocks rise to normal level. Is this not normal? Should the shocks not be losing pressure over night? Regards. Ned.

When I was getting service A performed, a flatbed was unloading an E 63 (211) with Airmatic failure. My SA said that was only one issue and pointed to the sheared and twisted front fenders. It seems that when the suspension dropped, the driver panicked and turned abuptly to exit the road and the wheels created the damage in the turn. I don't know if the car had been lowered prior to the failure or if it was riding on a standard airmatic suspension, but it was alarming to see the damage.

Just got mine out of the dealer for the same issue: rear was slammed, not overnight but if it sat for 48-72 hours. Part numbers 212-320-03-25 and 212-320-06-25 ("Air Spring") were replaced.

Guess it is normal

edit: 3000 miles on my car

Sorry, I'm not fully getting what you are saying. You had the shocks replaced and they still deflate after a few days. Or did it stop doing that after the repair. Thanks. Ned.

Do your airmatic shocks deflate overnight like mine? My rear shocks rise by 3-4 inches every morning when I start the car. Thanks. Ned.

I just got home with the car about two hours ago; so far, it looks good

Prior to taking it in, it took 48-72 hours for it to lower itself, at least to the point that I noticed. This pic is after 72 hours and is what prompted me to take it in:

I bet this is why MB is taking the airmatic out of the 2012 550's.

Let me know if the issue goes away. Did the techs say there was an issue and that the air shocks shouldn't lose pressure? Thanks. Ned.

Ned, if your car is settling overnight, it's an issue. It's a warranty repair. I think the spec is more than 20mm -- in my case it was deflating 2.5 inches in the rear.

The car should be sitting over the holidays so I hopefully I will find that it's resolved. Yosheego up above posted that his "airbags" (the term used by my SA) were replaced and that did not resolve it. So we'll see.

W221 Airmatic Promblems

So all I drive 2008 S550 had the same problems there were 2 issues really inexpensive fixes
1. the fuse had blown causing the car to drop
2. there was a leak on the actual hose around the airmatic pump
Suggestion: change the fuse (40amp) if you hear the pump come on and the car falls later then their is a leak at the pump
