Question Comand Selector Button (console)

Ok so Ive had the car for 45 days and my first "wtf" moment is the round spinning wheel on the console. I posted in the tech area,,some guy said go to the dealer and switch it out,,gee thanks.
But has anyone experienced the scrolling feature of said button quit on them, and or is it something we can re-institute? Nothing was introduced such as water,,no one sat on it, so should it just stop?
Thanks in advance.

I assume that you've tried rebooting the system? Does the knob just spin freely or does it actually "click" like normal?

On some recent S models, holding the "eject" button for about 10 seconds seems to do the trick - or you could find the fuse and pull it.

It's just like rebooting your PC or holding down the two buttons on an iPhone. I'm just not sure if eject works on the current E - perhaps somebody could chime in...

I hate to be "that guy" but ... To the dealer with you! It seems to be a common issue. Most likely needs to be switched out.

Sorry to hear of your problems, but doesn't surprise me. My tilt S/W component failed at about 9,000 miles or less and one of Homelink buttons has died.
MB needs to seriously address component failures. NOTHING should fail in less than 50,000 miles, if then.

I would like to try a home remedy before getting involved with the dealer,,they just had my car 2 hours because the mbrace function needed to be re-instituted,and they gave me an extra 3 months freebie service

I completely agree it should not have gone out.

Ok I had the dealer switch the button,,of course they had to order the part. But it was covered and the timing was good as I needed to do some fancy scrolling ala the Nav system in Fla.
Im hoping this is a one time issue, but like we said before,,with well under
20K miles this ought not have happened.
