It's unbelievable how some can't have a rational and respectable discussion about another non-MB car. I am not into the GS styling but I think the specs are VERY impressive. The acceleration and breaking is phenomenal. If you were on an interstate doing 80 and had to slam on the breaks, you'd be so much better off in a GS and that's pretty pathetic with all the technology MB has access to and they've barely made the 60-0 times better from the W211.

I love my 550 but for someone considering the E350 and really wants more acceleration/power and TECH the GS is I think a great choice if you can stomach the exterior styling...

The Lexus GS may be a series of mid-size/executive cars sold by Lexus, the posh division of Toyota. Designed as a performance sedan competing within the mid-luxury category, the GS slots between the entry-level/compact government IS and full-size/flagship LS. Four generations of the GS are created since 1993, every accessible with six-cylinder engines and rear-wheel drive.

The GS is tough competition with Audi for the ugliest grill.

It's pretty clear who you were referring to and I agree with you. No need for that kind of petty, childish behavior on an adult forum.

GS is a average good looking and reliable car but no competition to MBZ E class. I rather go with Genesis over GS.

What is a "sprint Booster"

First, let me say, I spent 14 years drving in Germany (3 tours in the USAF). All of which was in my young adult life. As a result, I got used to driving with the "pedal to the metal" due to lack of speed limits, especially on the autobahns. As a result, I am now 65 and I still like to go fast. As I have mentioned in earlier threads, I have a V1 in all four of my cars and couldn't live without them. One of them has a personalized license plate, "FSTLN." It is on a Corvette.

As for the Corvette. I have done some minor performance work to it (420HP, or 356RWHP with 362 ft. lbs. of torque). It has a 6 speed manual. It is very fast and torquey! However, it is not the fastest Vette around. It's a little like the ole west...regardless of how fast a gunslinger was, there was always someone a little faster. So it is with HP in cars. There is always one that's faster. Hell, I know some guys who have over 600 HP in their Vettes and drive them to work daily. In my opinion, that's ridiculous. But different strokes for different folks.

As most of you know, performance mods can become addictive. The amount of HP you create is directly related to the size of your checking account. However, there is always someone with a bigger checking account. It become a vicious circle. It doesn't matter if it is Corvettes or Mercedes, more money will always make it go faster.

Why did I buy a E350? Well, I have owned a total of 7 other Mercedes and I know their capabilities, albeit my wife drove most of them. I personally wanted a sporty luxury car with some pep for myself this time. This was September when I went looking, basically, leftover 2011s. When I get the "green light" from the wife, I have to act fast before she thinks about too long. That's a personal matter, I know that, but after 43 years of marriage, it still works. Anyway, my dealer had no 550's on the lot, which may have been an option, but they had this Capri Blue Sport E350 with exactly the options I was looking for. I drove it and the first impression was unbelievable that a V6 could perform like that. No American car with a V6 ever performed like that. I knew immediately, the acceleration and performance of this car would work for me.

Now, after adding the Sprint Booster, the engine responds magnificently. I am still learning to finess the accelerator on take offs to prevent "jack rabbit" starts. Does it perform like my Vette? No, and I never expected it to. However, it does exceed my expectations for a "sporty, luxury, high end automobile." I am a happy camper. I guess you could say, I can have my cake and eat it too!

Oh yes, "KA," I am very impressed to hear a guy under thirty with a philosophy such as yours. It's not always about HP, sometimes it's about a unique driving experience, and for the money, the E350 provides that in spades!

I always enjoyed the Corvette forum for over 12 years. During that time, I guessed I just lurked and read more than I posted. However, on this forum, you guys keep pulling me into these threads. I guess I am actually more of a Mercedes guy than a Corvette guy, at heart. As I have said in earlier posts, I do like all things German! I sincerely wish each of you a fantastic week.
Appreciate any info on "Sprint Booster". Have new 2012 E350 which I plan to keep indefinitely. Thanks.

e350
I'm glad I found this thread. I was not considering the GS until I test drove one to try it out. The interior really feels like a 60k car. The split screen is great because it removes alot of button off the cockpit making it look cleaner (i really don't like the keypad on the eclass. Why is that there again?) I didn't get the same feel with the e350 2012. The front kinda reminds of a rice rocket. The ride is really smooth and the back seats feel roomy. However, I think I am still going with a 2012/2013 eclass. It has better safety features, looks great on the outside, and is a better overall car.

My "Review" and side by side pics here::

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...xus-gs350.html

To put it simply:

Lexus, drives good, maybe dynamically better but I think the E still drives like a better pure luxury car.... and feels more confidently handling to boot.

Styling looks like it should cost 2-3 times what a GS does.

Lexus Infotainment system is a pain in the a$$.

Many times I told myself do not look in Lexus, but reading this thread with so appealing comments, I think to give another try. Major problem of Lexus, and generally Asian cars is just follow European makers. GS is good becasue Lexus did much effort of copying Mercedes. But still there are certain misses
Where are dynamic seats?
Why power doesn't reatin after stopping engine?
Why so bad voice recognition? Do you notice if you give voice command, Mercedes fan will reduce speed to eliminate any noises.
Why no power trunk close for sport trim?
Why no adaptive high beam?
So if you look in details you will find lot misses in GS. Luxury cars are not only outstanding performance and precise handling, it is lot focusing on details what mainstreamer can't provide. But if we look in perfomance, there is no GS430, question why? As only E class takes 300hp engine, GS can't compete, unless Lexus will reduce price.

E550
When I bought my 2011 E550, I also looked at Lexus GS.

Here is a warning if you are over 6 feet. (I am 6'-3")

As soon as I told the Lexus salesman I wanted to see a GS, he shook his head. I got in the car and regardless how I adjusted the seat, my head hit the headliner.

The salesman said they had been lowering the roof to pick up any possible .1 MPG. He knew as soon as he saw me the car wouldn't fit.

I didn't even bother driving it.

Probably agree

Having owned a fully loaded Hyundai Azera, I would probably take a Genesis over a GS. I do own two Toyotas and have owned them in the past, so I am neutral in that respect.
BTW, I believe the GS is slotted between the ES and LS, although more performance oriented than either. Speaking of ES, the 2013 Avalon (same platform) looks much better than the 2013 ES.
While Asians may have copied Europeans, especially M-B, they have exceeded them in reliability and dependability. That's why they sell so well in US and why Hyundai is now number 5 (maybe 4) in world sales.

E-class
I have a four cylinder E class. It's not the fastest car on the road, but it gets me to places with plenty of style.

To me, the new GS styling just doesn't appeal to me. So the rest (hp, split screen, microwave, fridge...) I can care less.

Oh, I have carbon fiber tape on my front bumper
