e350 4_matic sport

I have just picked up an E350 4-matic sports in Stuttgart.
Anyone planning to pick up their car in Germany will be pleased to know that the COMAND system is now loaded with European Maps. All the paperwork insists that you will be provided with a temporary GPS device which needed to be returned on shipping data. Not so.
The COMAND system worked perfectly for our travels around Bavaria. The pickup in Sindelfingen went perfectly and the program is well worth considering if you want to try out the German autobahns for a little fun. Cruising at 90mph and watching cars pass in excess of 140mph was a new experience.

Correct, as of MY10 headunit can be switched (via dealer menu within and without SDS) between European & USA modes. Upon vehicle arrival into the USA, dealer will change COMAND to USA variant and load current USA map database.

congrats
! the experience must be a good one. it must be hard to resist to drive much faster than in the states for the people who do euro delivery which is completely understandable
. however, i think majority of the manufacturers recommended to drive w/i certain limit during the break-in period which i also think is good for the vehicles in a long run. that makes the whole autobahn thing that much more tempting/evil for the folks who want to babysit their rides from day one.

One way to get a big car over there is to pre-order the smallest automatic they have - Ford Fiesta or the like. Once you arrive, they'll need to upgrade you to a bigger car because they have no little automatics - but you'll pay the lower price
I've done that twice - both times I ordered the subcompact automatic. The first time I got a Mercedes Estate and the next time I got a V70. The difference in price is quite substantial on a two week rental.

As intriguing as doing 140mph (or even 90) on a highway is to me I.personally, wouldn't do it...1) because I have a dickey ticker
and 2) because I worked for 20 years in a large hospital's ER and have seen the results of what can happen at 60...let alone 90 or 140.
Hope you stay safe!

I remember a German study that determined that BP goes up 10 points over 130kph and continues to rise steadily with speed.
Most really high speed accidents never end up in the ER though

Yup, at certain speeds (not even as fast as one might think), even the Safest cars are flying death traps. I've had more than enough experiences with people I knew at a young age who were victim to it, in the days when I was stupid enough to engage in, and surround myself in public racing and performance outbursts.
