My new ride - W212 E550
I pulled the trigger on a fully-loaded CPO'd 2010 W212 E550 with 10K miles on it, and got a great deal on it. My CLK was just too small, with the baby seat and all. Plus I got a sweet offer from a private party and sold it.
Here are the details:
2010 W212 E550
-Black on Black, Black ash wood
-P2
-Driver's Assist Package with Distronic
-Parktronic
-Panorama Sunroof
-Split folding rear seats
-Side airbags in rear
Mods:
-Flat hood emblem
-Medium Tint (35%) all around
Future mods:
-Renntech Lowering Module
-Renntech ECU
-Brabus Exhaust
-Brabus front lip
-Brabus 19" Mono VI wheels (as seen in my CLK55 sig pic)
The car is solid and fast and very comfortable. I don't miss the CLK55 at all. The torque and power are excellent, and the gearing on the 7-speed transmission is great. The ride is smooth and I like the heavy use of wood in the interior and the ambient lighting. It's first class. Distronic and Lane Assist are very cool. Mileage has been a plus as well, I'm getting 25-26mpg on the hwy, compared to 20mpg in the CLK, which is awesome since gas is $4.65 a gallon for 91 octane in CA.

Congratulations!! Looks and sounds great. What do you get out of the Renntech ECU mod? Thanks. Ned.

Thanks brother. The W209 was a lot of fun, but this W212 is the next level.

Thanks, Ned! It's a mild +20hp and +14torque. I like how they don't push it too far, and that it can still run on 91 octane. The total numbers are below. Not bad for about $1,490 MSRP.

From what I have learned so far it is. But then again, if the dealer looks hard enough (yeah right) they could probabyl find it. You have to keep in mind that it's in the Dealer's interest to keep us as Service clients for their overpriced oil changes, etc.
On my cars in the past I've had things taken care of under warranty that perhaps shouldn't have been. Also, all of my Mercedes have been lowered/modified suspension and the dealers never said a peep. In fact, most of them even sell Renntech and Brabus packaged cars in the showroom!
For the most part, this type of mild ECU upgrade should be fine. It's not aggressive, but gets us over the 400hp level and adds 5.2% more HP and TQ. One of the great things about the E550 engine is that it's been around for a long time. It's proven technology and near bulletproof. A mild ECU upgrade like this should be not problem, as it's not a new engine design/build.
My first step is the lowering module and exhaust. Next would be ECU tune and putting on the 19" Brabus wheels.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the 2012 E550's bi-turbo?
Reason I ask is because my local tuner, ETG, is tuning this car to 515hp and 619tq.
Im pretty sure ETG and Renntech are the only tuners currently tuning the 550 platform.

Nice choise. I picked mine first of the year with 15 000 miles. Same year and packages, mine is steel gray though, which is an awesome color, Looks different under different lighting conditions.
I have a problem though, which you might later on too. It is not a car problem but related to the amazing Distronic.
I had bought the star grille for my 2011 E350 and now I cannot use it as the star does not work with the Distronic. When you find a star for it that works let me know. Would make the front look so much better than that ugly regtangular "box" that we now have in front of the Distronic sensor.

Thanks man!
LOL, Black E550's rock!
Will do, once I get the Brabus rims on. I like these OEM rims better than some of the other ones that came out for the E-class.
Freshh, my car has the N/A 5.4L V8 engine, so no turbos on this one.

I ordered a new 2011 E550 because I did not want the 2012. I don't want direct injection and I don't want turbo. If the M273 hasn't got enough power for someone, I can't imagine why.

Besides that, the engine puts out enough power for me!

Amen to that. Wouldn't be so bad if other car makers (BMW) weren't having problems with the DI & turbo combo's.
