I just got my rims mounted and wanted to thank everyone for advice on choosing the correct tire. I am very happy with the selection. Here is a couple pics I took just after the install so the car and tires are dirty, but I will take better pics over the weekend and post the new ones. Thanks again.

Hi!

Will 245-30/20 & 275-35/20 work? (Thinking about the 2,7 ish % diffrent i roll diameter)

Have 285-25/20 in the rear but its just to little rubber, changing them today.

Do I have to change the front 245-30? They don`t rub at all (not even in the back with 285-25)

Wheels; 8,5" ET35 Front, 10" ET38 Rear.

Thanks for answer =)

Did you mean 275/30 rear? That will be fine as long as your car is RWD

Sorry man, ment 275-30/20 yes =)
Its RWD

Just got them changed from 285-25/20.
Still have 245-30/20 in the front.

Think its is about 2,7% differense. Should that be ok?

Thanks!

No, not realy.

With 275/30-20 rears, I would change fronts to 235/35-20 (first choice and IMHO the only correct one) or 255/30-20.

Would this apply to the 19's also? I have 245/35/19 (front) and 275/30/19 (rears).

The ride isn't bad at all, I thought it was going to be horrible but to my surprise it is smooth and not jolting. Sorry for the bad camera phone pic, that was taken just after I had them installed. The car is lowered now also and is clean...lol.. I will get pics up soon.

E550 4 Matic
Hello,

Im looking at the tire sizes that you guys used for 20 inch wheels and I'm still not sure what sizes to use for sure.

I have a 2011 E550 4 Matic sedan and I am looking for tires to go on my wheels that are 20x9 with +40 offset front and 20x10 with +42 offset rear.

I have 4 brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 in 245/30/20's that I had for spares from another wheel setup I had for a different vehicle but I am having trouble finding the matching 285/25/20 tires to go with the front tires. I know at one time someone had a few pairs for sale but they are no longer available. If anyone is interested in these tires I may sell them because it look like I should get a bit thicker side wall.

I was considering using the 235/35/20's in front and 275/30/20's rear but was concerned about rubbing in the front. Others have said this shouldn't rub so I think 235/35/20 in front should be ok. I wasn't sure about 235/35/20 for a 20x9 front wheel though. I know 245/35/20 will rub.

I'm looking to purchase tires as soon as possible so any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to make sure I get the right tires.

Thanks!

The Goodyear Eagle that size have been discontinued. Try and google them. You may be able to find them on ebay. 235/35/20 on a 20x9 wheel should not rub in the front. Much success!

clmulli,

Thanks for the reply! Do you know whether 235/35/20 on a 20x9 wheel is advisable?

235/35 tire on 9" wide wheel is OK (8.5" wide would be better).
However, 235/35-20 tire on 20x9 et40 wheel maybe too close to perch (that is if airmatic cars also have it) and most likely will touch it. IMHO, at least 5mm (or maybe even 10mm) spacer will be required.

So to sum it up threeMBs, I should pretty much count on having to get a 10mm spacer for the fronts if I go with 235/35/20.

For my setup what is your opinion on correct tire size and offset?

Once again thanks for the information!

You're putting me on a spot. "Correct" tires (for 20" wheels) in who's opinion? MB, TireRack and other "official" sources will advise 245/30-20 or 255/30-20 (I'm OK with that last number, but not the first). Personally, I use 235/35-20 to maintain civilized ride, protect wheels and IMO almost eliminate gaps on my non-lowered cars. I did a detailed writeup (or two) on the subject, so if you search C207 forum (I think its there) or W212 you'll get the picture.

ThreeMBs I didn't mean to put you on the spot like that I did search the forum and talk to several other sources and received different answers many of the times.

I was told the best thing to do with the 4 Matics was just get the same wheel and tire size all the way around front and year obviously that's an option that's going to work.

The information you and others has been very helpful and given me the opinion of someone who has personal experience with these matters. I'll be sure to review your detailed write up again that you noted in your last post.
