0-60 Time for '12 E-Class...Anyone???
Okay...really frustrated here! I can't seem to find solid 0-60 performance data (as tested) for the '12 E350 anywhere (whether 4Matic or RWD; nothing!)...w/ the 34hp jump between 2011/12 MYs, there has to be a noticeable difference. So to offer members a thread to access these 0-60 performance times, I titled the thread as such to cover all '12 E-class (W212), to include 550s and E63s (AMGs)... So, come one; come all! WANTED: ONLY TIMES from RELIABLE sources (preferrably from media sources, such as Motor Trend, Car and Driver, etc...etc...you know!)...anyway... We need to know what to expect from our E-Powerhouse when we line up @ the light w/ those that want to disrespect! I had a Toyota minivan try to take me today for goodness sake!!! WTF???

Well, don't line your E-Powerhouse (lol E350?) up with either an E550 or an E63. Or, a BMW, or Lexus, or, Infinity, or, a Subaru WRX, or many many many other vehicles. If you (or your daddy?) bought the "E-Powerhouse" for "drag racing" respect, you will live the life of Rodney Dangerfield. For the same or considerably less money, there are many faster cars. MB provides you their estimates on your window sticker. 34 hp is not going to make more than one-two tenths of a second difference.

First off, you couldn't buy a stupider car to "line up and drag race", not to mention racing on the streets is idiotic. It's an E-Class for christ sake. And no, it's not worthy of being called anything near a "powerhouse", yet has more than enough daily usable and refined, effortless power (clue: That's what an E-Class is all about).
Expect about mid 5 to 6 second 0'60 times. Enough to feel great and plenty fast in real world driving, not enough to consider the car a drag racer.

In addition,it goes without saying that 4 MATIC should be slower than non 4 MATIC cars
If you want a sheer performance you could buy a preowned E63 for same price

These stats are for 2012
E350 0-100 KM/H = 6.3 secs
E350 4 MATIC 0-100 KM/H = 6.6 secs
In addition to these cabrio which is A 207 E350 0-100 KM/H = 6.4 secs

If you wanted something a lot faster, you should have picked up a used E55K AMG or E63 AMG for the same price as your brand new 2012 E350 4Matic. And I didn't know that every car that wants to "line up" with you wants to "disrespect" your car...
And I wouldn't be calling your E350 4Matic a "powerhouse"... My 07 GL450 4Matic isn't far behind and can keep up very well.
My 0-60 is around 6.4 seconds with manual tip shifting since there's no sport mode in the automatic setting. So more like dead even. And it's a large full size SUV vs your midsize sedan.

Gentlemen, (and ladies if applicable)... I appreciate you all taking me to school about drag racing and educating me on the true purpose of a luxury sedan...point well taken. Now, let me clarify that I intended this thread to be a place for [those who care] to access 0-60 times for the E-class. My added little experience @ the end of my OP was just to get some laughs...not to encourage a beat-down from everyone about the aforementioned. I understand what the M-B E350 is all about and that's why I bought it and how I drive it...BUT there is a reason the '12 E3/5 has 300/400hp under the hood and that they even offer the E63 AMG version goes to show that performance is key to engineering this vehicle. Thanks to everyone who felt the need to provide instruction where instruction wasn't due. I'm retired military and have been a lot of places and seen a lot of things; I think I know the difference between pure performance (i.e. Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, Ferraris, even WRX/STI, Lancer/EVO, etc...) and simply class (i.e. E+S class, 5-7 series, A6/7/8, CTS/DTS, XJ/XF, etc...)... The purpose of the thread was to get 0-60 times...that's all. I apologize for any confusion created beyond the point of the thread... And THANK YOU to those who provided positive input...keep it coming!

I think the powerhouse comment got folks rattled. Anyways i dont know how much faster an 11 vs 12 is but i imagine and extra 30 hp provides negligable gains. I checked out in May's MotorTrend, the 2012 Audi TTRS. It has a 2.5 liter turbocharged 5 cyc. It remarkably pushes 360hp and 340 lbs torgue. With that said this rocket will wind to 60 in 4.2 sec for the price of 61K. Im going to go to Audi and check this car out in person to see if it truly appeals to me.I did not like the previous version- too feminine. Anyways sorry to change the subject. Ok bring it on audi haters lol.

E-350 = Night on the town with the ladies. Not a Boy-Racer type of car, maybe try a really big coffee can exhaust on it....
It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.

Yeah, I see! Turns out, me sharing a "fun-spirited" experience ended up calling the wolves! My goodness!!! I know I didn't provide a lot of info in my profile, but wow! Give a Merc-buyer some kind of credit...I'm no rookie @ this. Been driving sports sedans all my driving life.
I prefer them over the performance-rated coupes anyday. Just more classy IMO... Anyway, all the negative bantering was really unwarranted and unnecessary. Not what I expected @ all from members of (I thought) an exec-class forum such as mbworld.

...and just so it's clear, I realize the ante has been up'd on engine efficiency/performance in the last few decades as far as 4/6/8 cylinders is concerned. I mean, who'd have heard of a 4-cylinder putting out ~200hp (very common nowadays) back in the '80s? 6-cylinders are matching/surpassing what 8s were putting out in that era as well! But yet and still, who wouldn't consider ANY vehicle pushing 300-400hp any less than a POWERHOUSE even w/ today's standards?! Just how many cars have that much juice??? "powerhouse" was referenced in context w/ our class of cars, NOT Ferraris, Lambos, Vipers, and the like...really can't believe I had to explain this... Okay, I'm done.

MB does make C350 4Matic and I believe they have the same engine in the 2012 E350 4Matic as well. The question is whether you need a bigger car. If so then go with the E.

You seem like a well spirited guy, but your first post looked like something you'd see on the Camaro boards, not on a classy "Executive Sedan" board.
Considering your statement about buying an E350 or C300 depending on who was faster, I just don't get your fixation on speed with cars of this class. The 2012 E350 is a 6 second 0-60 car.... sorry, but if you're talking competitiveness here, that's not in any way fast.
Also, the E-Class is NOT a Sports Sedan. Don't let the marketing gimmick of "Sports Package" fool you. This car has major body lean on the turns, and the transmission isn't tuned for aggressive driving (opposite in fact). Those are tell tales as to what kind of car this is supposed to be.
I absolutely adore my car and there isn't one I'd rather have over it.... I purposely bought a Luxury Sedan over a Sports Car because it's more appealing in so many ways to me.... but I bought it for what it is, not what it's not.
As for stoplight and street racing. Some of us have either been in close calls ourselves and wised up, and/or lost friends in them (raises hand). Therefore, it's personal when this subject comes up.

That's just the thing. This IS a Forum of classy exec Sedans, so someone ranting about their cars 0-60 times and racing minivans' and coining their conservative cruiser a "Powerhouse" righteously will rub people the wrong way.
