194 LED fitment in puddle side mirrors
I'm trying to replace the halogen bulb in the puddle side mirrors on my W212; I've read many threads and I got all of the instructions but I have a concern. I know the right replacement to the current halogen bulb is the 194 LED but those seem a bit too long in size, I want to make sure that they will fit in the space where the current halogen bulb is.
For those of you who have done this mod: is there a shorter 194 LED or are they all the same size?
Here is the LED I'm looking to use for this mod, which are about 1" long if not longer:

Maybe you guys can share the info on the 194 LED that you've used for this mod.

Anyone have pictures of how they're plugged into the puddle light? If it's side facing with no reflectors, then this design might not be bright enough as there are only 2 small side mounted diodes and unless those are oriented facing down, then won't work as well. I have a couple designs in the works to maximize lighting on those side mounting connectors instead of the forward facing ones.

Scroll all the way down and follow PHML member instructions. Less then 10 min to replace both.

you might have known about this but just a friendly reminder, you don't need error free for your trunk, glove box, vanity mirrors, inside lights and four doors. but you do need just one for the four footwells. you don't need four, one is enough to do the trick. i hope i remember these correctly. phml or other experts, pls correct me if i'm wrong.

I didn't know. I followed iJDMTOY rep recomendation to buy error free for the foot area. Everything else inside the car can be regular LED. The difference in price was $5 per pair so I decided to get all 4 error free for the foot area.
I appreciate your input! That’s what makes this forum awesome as it’s hard to figure things out for yourself even if you do research. Thanks again.

well, of course it doesn't hurt to have all error free. just a side note, i bought all mine from ebay for dirt cheap and they all worked flawlessly. i know it's too late but no need to pay big bucks on those bulbs in the future .
