I haven't connected it with the connector in the glovebox, but have paired it with bluetooth and had it stream music and pandora.

Update: Got curious and plugged it in. Functions just like an ipod assuming you have music on your ipad.

Really wish the bluetooth streaming would allow you to select playlists and/or music folders like you can when the ipod/ipad/iphone are connected to the multimedia interface cable.

Any problems pairing it with bluetooth? I tried and it never reconigzes the iPad.

I have the cable with the female adpator and power (it does not charge)but I guess I need a male to male adaptor to connect the iPad or is there a separate cable required?

Hmmm...pairs just fine for me. Make sure you turn bluetooth on on the ipad and then let the MB find it. Also, not sure what vehicle you have, but read that earlier 2010/11 vehicles needed a SW update for streaming audio to work. You might need to enable BT audio in the engineering menu. If that's the case, search this forum for getting into the engineering menu and you'll find how to do it and enable BT audio.

Not sure what cable you have, but mine looks like the attached.

That is the cable. The smaller connector that recieves the output from the ipad requires another cable correct?

I don't beleive enabling BT audio has anything to do with achieving a bluetooth connection does it?

The large connector on the cable is for ipod/iphone/ipad devices. The smaller female one is for any other audio player that has a standard 3.5mm stereo audio jack; like a tape player or other non-apple interface device. See attachment. However, when you use this jack, you won't see any on-screen indication of the song that's playing nor have the ability to control the device, just hear the audio. You use one or the other at the same time.
And yes jerome8283 you're correct, enabling BT audio in the engineering menu has nothing to do with the BT phone function.

I managed to get tech devices charged thru Media Interface .
Nokia N8 , no need to plug into 12V socket , same goes for MP3 Player as illustrated here
Trick is
If you use Aux for MP3 player , the device won't charge but if you plug it in as shown in the image, it will charge .

When using the media connector where on the ipad does it look for media content? It tells me 'no media files' or something like that.

Also, has anyone tried bluetooth? I was able to turn on BT Audio via maintenance mode of the command unit then pair the ipad however when I select the ipad as the BT audio device it fails. I can here it connect to the ipad because it beeps but thats about it. Do I need to turn on something via the ipad?

I got it to work. It was my network connection. Now it works.

Cool. I only tried it after a few reports on this forum stating it works well. I experienced problems at first because I was in my driveway barely connected to my home wireless network. The music would cut in and out or not play at all. When I turned off Wifi and connected to Verizon I had a consistent connection and it worked well. I will go for a ride shortly to see how it works while driving.

If you havent turned on BT Audio via maintenance mode yet, here is the procedure which I got from a post on this forum....

.......................

-press on hold, End Call + # + 1: opens*Engineering*Mode

- HU Settings

- HU Parameter*
(the following are the settings I put them in)
(1) BT contact plate: Not Installed
(2) LCT: Installed
(3) BT audio: On
(4) Audio Aux: Off (greyed out: not an option)
(5) Video Aux: Off
(6) Navi: installed
(7) BT: on

-back buttonx2

-pull command wheel down

- system reset

- reset - yes

- go to audio, then go to the audio tab again to bring up the drop down*menu*of audio options, select BT audio and activating audio device comes up, then the audio streaming screen

Sent from my iPad
Good luck!

Glad everything worked out for you jerome8283. I prefer BT Audio over any other music feature. Although it will eat up your data service plan .

I was thinking about the data plan issue too. I use Spotify which allows you to Sync locally which should overcome this, I beleive. Still playing

After playing with BT Audio for a few days it became apparent that it wasn't working consistently and nothing I did would help.

I saw this thread,

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ml#post4527813

I visited the dealer today and showed them the work order referencing the software update applied. They updated my Command software. Now BT Audio is working fine. I aslo see the song name and artist.

Good to hear it was fixed . They call it Gracenote . Just a reminder what happened yesterday and how it fixed it .
I turned off my phone and I noticed that Bluetooth Audio no longer showed the track name and artist .It said "Audio Stream Active" or something like this regardless of track . I was like what happened and I had MB Bluetooth rediscovered all the bluetooth devices and once it got connected again , it showed artist name and track name

Thumbs up 2010 US E350 Sport BT Audio works!

2010 W212 with Nav - finally got mine to work. Once I activated the BT audio in the Engineering menu, I went to the BT Audio devices screen. It saw my iphone 4, which I selected, but it would never connect. Wierdly enough, if I selected BT Audio on the W212 screen, it would start the Pandora app on my iphone, but would not play the audio through the car speakers.

I got it to work by going back to the BT Audio Devices menu and externally authorized the iphone 4 and it worked right away. Thanks to everyone for the heads up on this very nice option.

Do a search on the forum. I don't have the exact steps with me but you should be able to find it via a search. You may required a command firmware update as I did. My BT Audio works fine after a visit to the dealer and the command firmware update was applied.

You are correct - it does take a software update if you have a 2010. I followed a thread somewhere about the engineering menu and it worked - sort of. Every time I used the phone, it disabled streaming. someone in a second thread mentioned a software update. I had the dealer do that (under warranty) and it works fine now.
