Connecting an iPad 3
Update: Got curious and plugged it in. Functions just like an ipod assuming you have music on your ipad.
Really wish the bluetooth streaming would allow you to select playlists and/or music folders like you can when the ipod/ipad/iphone are connected to the multimedia interface cable.

I have the cable with the female adpator and power (it does not charge)but I guess I need a male to male adaptor to connect the iPad or is there a separate cable required?

Not sure what cable you have, but mine looks like the attached.

I don't beleive enabling BT audio has anything to do with achieving a bluetooth connection does it?

And yes jerome8283 you're correct, enabling BT audio in the engineering menu has nothing to do with the BT phone function.

Nokia N8 , no need to plug into 12V socket , same goes for MP3 Player as illustrated here
Trick is
If you use Aux for MP3 player , the device won't charge but if you plug it in as shown in the image, it will charge .
Also, has anyone tried bluetooth? I was able to turn on BT Audio via maintenance mode of the command unit then pair the ipad however when I select the ipad as the BT audio device it fails. I can here it connect to the ipad because it beeps but thats about it. Do I need to turn on something via the ipad?

If you havent turned on BT Audio via maintenance mode yet, here is the procedure which I got from a post on this forum....
.......................
-press on hold, End Call + # + 1: opens*Engineering*Mode
- HU Settings
- HU Parameter*
(the following are the settings I put them in)
(1) BT contact plate: Not Installed
(2) LCT: Installed
(3) BT audio: On
(4) Audio Aux: Off (greyed out: not an option)
(5) Video Aux: Off
(6) Navi: installed
(7) BT: on
-back buttonx2
-pull command wheel down
- system reset
- reset - yes
- go to audio, then go to the audio tab again to bring up the drop down*menu*of audio options, select BT audio and activating audio device comes up, then the audio streaming screen
Sent from my iPad
Good luck!

I visited the dealer today and showed them the work order referencing the software update applied. They updated my Command software. Now BT Audio is working fine. I aslo see the song name and artist.

I turned off my phone and I noticed that Bluetooth Audio no longer showed the track name and artist .It said "Audio Stream Active" or something like this regardless of track . I was like what happened and I had MB Bluetooth rediscovered all the bluetooth devices and once it got connected again , it showed artist name and track name
I got it to work by going back to the BT Audio Devices menu and externally authorized the iphone 4 and it worked right away. Thanks to everyone for the heads up on this very nice option.
