Bluetec owners rejoice! Diesel prices cheaper than reg. gas!
I noticed today that the price for diesel fuel dropped to below the price of regular 87 octane gasoline. The particular station I saw had it for 2˘ cheaper than 87 octane and 22˘ less than 91 octane.
Looking on Gasbuddy.com, the cheapest diesel in the Phoenix area is $3.35/gallon while the cheapest 87 octane is $3.53 and 91 octane $3.73.
A quick calculation based on 15,000 miles/yr and an average of 28.5 MPG (what the DIS is showing Im getting) vs 21 MPG (what my old E320 was getting) comes out to a savings of $900/year on fuel. Pretty nice! Hopefully diesel prices stay low.

You're lucky in Phoenix. Here in NYC diesel is still couple cents more than 93. New Jersey is cheaper, but we have to pay toll ( about $10) to go there ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Anyway - it's cheaper to drive diesel cars here.

According to the AAA, there is not one state where Diesel average cost is lower than Regular average cost.
A few are very close.

Trip last week I filled at $3.64 in north MI and was ecstatic. Got home Saturday to fill at $3.99, same as when we left. Gas buddy did show a station a few miles away for $3.79 but not worth the trouble. Awesome road trip and the passing torque gets more fun daily.
BTW, was forced to put the digital speedo up so my co-pilot could keep tabs on the speed. Got to about 115 easy before she took over!

In my neighborhood diesel is within a few cents of Premium...sometimes a bit lower, sometimes a bit higher.I'm OK with it being equal to Premium because that's the only resonable reference point for *our* cars.

The Bluetec is $1200 more initially but if the prices were to stay as they are now, in 15 months that $1200 would be caught up and it would all be a benefit from there.

In case of leasing - payment is at least $50-$70 less per month than gasoline version, so you benefit right from the start.

It is currently the same price as Premium here ($3.69/gal.). The US continues to be the only country in the world that does not price diesel below regular grade petrol. In 2004 (not that long ago) diesel was on average about 70 cents a gallon cheaper than regular here in Pennsylvania. It is far cheaper to produce than gasoline.

This time of year though diesel will tend to go down as demand for heating fuel fell off.
Interestingly I notice diesel usually is delayed behind gasoline with increases and decreases...

Really nice to see D2 in most locations selling for less than regular unleaded just like it used to be and should be always!

There is a Union Station in Ontario California located at Grove and Walnut just South
of the I-60 Freeway that has good quality (perhaps the best?) D2 for $3.859.
Guess you know where I get most of my fuel?
