Convenience Closing of Windows
Is there the a one touch way to close the windows and sun roof at the same time while inside the W212?

Yes, when I read the manual it was something like this . You need to teach or program the windows . I haven't tacked it though

Have you tried holding the LOCK button on the remote? I'm not sure there's any way to make this work from my reading of the manual, but I could be mistaken. On my Audi the convenience open/close only work if all doors are closed, and locking the car with the remote while inside it is undesirable as it arms the alarm....

I forget if this worked or not but doesn't holding the recirc button down for 3 seconds closes all windows and sunroof? My E is gone and haven't tried it on the new GL but I recall it working on the old R?

Yes holding the recirc button for a few seconds will close all windows and turn on air recirculation.
Pressing and holding it again will open everything as it was before and turn off air recirculation.
1st post, hopefully useful.

Sounds very cool - I have no way to test, but looked again in the USA model E550 owner's manual and found no mention of it. Would be a shame if it's only a non-USA feature

+1 to this based on what ive heard. No idea why they wouldnt make this world wide? its just a couple lines of code in the cars programming. I cant think of a reason why they would restrict it...

Does it work elsewhere in the world? (I believe an early confirmation came from a post who's likely NOT in North America) In the Audi ecosystem these kinds of things were controlled by module coding, so we'd been able to enable a fair number of non-North American options that way.
I don't see as much of that happening here in the Mercedes world - but I wonder if this exists on Euro models then yes, perhaps it could be coded on NA models?

Correct. North American MB's no longer have the tunnel feature...just like on convertibles, we used to be able to open or close all windows by continuing to hold the roof button.
This all changed in 2009 & it was some silly thing that was brought on by US regulations & has to do with finger/hand safety. I can't remember all the details, but that is what i learned at training when the '09 SL came out.

I do know that my U.S. W211 had a convenience "open" feature. When the car interior is super hot from being parked in the sun you can hold down the unlock button on the key fob from outside the car. the fob had to be held close to the drivers side door handle. As long as u held the button down it would open all windows and sun roof at the same time.
