i can't say which one is better. to each his own. i think it's very similar with cars. my mercedes is better than your bmw or my lexus is better than your infiniti and so on. only reason i'm not a fan of apple is proprietary. you can't be flexible like others but i guess that's why and how they become the most powerful company in the world and also reached their all time high, $700, earlier this morning.

Samsung Nexus is good just because Samsung stole Apple ideas and implemented in it. Now Samsung should pay for this steal about a billion $, however as a consumer you got a good device.

Anyone come up with something yet? I've been searching for an answer to this without much luck. Hopefully someone has found a way to do this by now.

the internet function is a joke IMO.
as said by others; far easier to use the phone.

The only nice thing is internet radio, though it sometimes takes ages
to connect and/or reconnect when signal lost.
but think this is mainly a problem on the iPhone side (hotspot),
as a hard reboot often fixes any connection problems.

on the other hand, you might as well stream internet radio from a phone app to the car,
so in the end I don't really see any advantage in having internet in the car...?

Is there any advantage to upgrade the unit from 4 to 4.5?

I don't have bluetooth streaming. I presume the hardware would be faster.

One of my pet peeves is when I'm playing a compact disc the info is slow to load. Why they have not gone to solid state is surprising..

You would likely do far better and cheaper to upgrade to the android display alternative, more function, faster performance, and you can actually browse, virtually everything online on the unit is dead due to browser not being updated.

Or for a less expensive alternative install an add-on box to provide Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay on the existing screen.
