Cleaning/Protecting Wood Trim

Hi All,

I just bought some Meguires interior cleaning wipes:

Amazon Amazon
Amazon Amazon

Will either one work for wood trim, cause the label doesn't say so? Otherwise, will old english wipes work or does the UV protecting layer not absorb the oil and leave it greasy?

It's coated wood, so no, oily substances won't work. I've been using plexus, but the other day, I noticed the spray button on the can is turning yellow, which worries me. I may switch to some other type of AIO like Klasse since it has no smell and is easy to work with, and non-abrasive.

The wood trim is actually a thin wood veneer covered in polyurethane or similar clear, hard varnish. Accordingly, you'll want to treat it like any other glossy surface in your car. Clean with a damp cloth and protect with a wax. Do not use any harsh abrasives or chemicals. Do not use polish as it contains abrasives. Use a plastic polish like polywatch to remove surface swirls.

It should never be necessary to use anything other than a damp cloth on your dash or console. While microfiber cloths are fine for hard surfaces, they will damage MB-text so don't use microfiber on seats or doorpanels.

Shoot. I already bought the megiurs stuff after doing alot of research. It says you can use it on plastic, rubber, and vinyl. Isnt mb tex basically vinyl? are you saying not use this stuff?

Water

I use a damp, soft cloth to wipe my wood about every 4-6 months. Works fine.
Use Vinylex by Lexol on everything else every 4-6 months. Hard to find and cost a little more, but highly recommended by a "detail" specialist at MBCA a few years ago.
Vinylex is much better than most others as it does not have the oily base and has a very low sheen (if any).
Have MB Tex seats.

Artico is MBTEX outside the US.

Definitely don't use mf on MBTEX, it's in the owner's manual.

Don

Still lazy to stop by at dealer and replace my wood trim on new shiny one. Good luck.
