iOS 6 Bluetooth MAP
Trending Topics
Message Access Profile (MAP) specification allows exchange of messages between devices. Mostly used for automotive handsfree use. The MAP profile can also be used for other uses that require the exchange of messages between two devices. The automotive Hands-Free use case is where an on-board terminal device (typically an electronic device as a Car-Kit installed in the car) can talk via messaging capability to another communication device (typically a mobile phone). For example, Bluetooth MAP is used by HP Send and receive text (SMS) messages from a Palm/HP smartphone to an HP TouchPad tablet [5]. Bluetooth MAP is used by Ford in select SYNC Generation 1-equipped 2011 and 2012 vehicles [6] and also by BMW with many of their iDrive systems. The Lexus LX and GS 2013 models both also support MAP as does the Honda CRV 2012. Apple introduces Bluetooth MAP in iOS6 for the iPhone and iPad.

I have not found any option to enable MAP in the engineering menus of 4.5. My software was updated by MB about a month ago.
If it's coded correctly the MB should detect that MAP stack automatically if it is on when the phones are paired. Perhaps the iphone has a setting to enable MAP??

If you are a developer, then better to ask on Apple forums, more knowledgeable people are there. For those who want to get early version of Apple products I would suggest to register on Apple dev site. It costs $100 a year, but lot of new products you can evaluate.
Is Internet enabled on your comand 4.5 system. US 2011 and 2012 cars with Comand 4.5 had internet set off in the engineering menus. When you go to "system" on the top menu, do you see only sirius weather or do you see other options?
i see other options, but i assume you can only use it if your cell phone supports hotspot ?
true, but not alot of developers on apple forums drive mercedes.
