iOS 6 Bluetooth MAP
#26
I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 6 today. I deleted previous pairing and paired again. But, still text message is not working with comand 4.5. Still Text Message menu item is grayed out in comand. Does it require internet connection from iPhone by tethering?

For text messaging to work in Comand 4.5, the phone needs to support bluetooth message application protocol (MAP) and while it is supposed to be in IOS 6, it's not at all clear from reports that it's working. You may have to wait for an update to 6.

In other words, if you upgrade your OS and it adds new protocols, unless you unpair/re-pair, the phone's new protocol support will be unknown to Comand. The existing protocols will still work fine, but not the new.
I experienced this with BT streaming metadata. I upgraded my phone to an OS revision that supported the required protocol, but it didn't work until I re-paired the devices.

Based on observation, I think the only time Comand queries the protocols supported by your phone is when they are paired.

It works for me. iPhone 4, iOS 6. 2012 E350. Not sure what Comand version I have.
Just like others have said, delete the pairing from phone, then re-pair. Then enable "Show Notifications" as above. Restart car/Comand.
Pretty cool feature.

No luck here. Have ios6 and 2) 2012 e class cars. Neither worked. Deleted phone using command system, then re-paired the phone. Went to ena
ble "show notifications" but it does not appear on phone. I went to the ios settings, bluetooth section, then looked at the connection. The only thing that appears after that is "Sync Contacts" and below that 3 favorites under the heading of "Group" No "show notifications". Am I looking in the wrong spot??
Thanks, Mark
Edit--Wife's 4s with IOS 6 does work. Had to wait a bit for the "Show Notifications" to come up on on the screen. Still waiting for the older phone with IOS 6 to show it. lol. Probably the phone...
