My 2 cents - the OP in the other thread is not a "car guy". I think it takes one to understand and appreciate all the subtle nuances that are designed into a car. I am the opposite of him, and thankfully so, I eat, sleep and breathe cars everyday incl weekends. I didn't buy an E350 (which by definition is a German Sports Luxury Sedan) to be lulled to sleep like a fat cat on a sofa. I wanted good solid feedback, you get this from your contact points. The steering wheel, the seat and the pedals.
A soft plushy seat will disconnect you from the driving experience, slow steering and a soft ride will also have the same effect. I bought the car because I could STILL feel the road... Some people will buy a BMW or Mercedes because of the name, these folks are NEVER satisfied, their
reasoning is skewed.
Over the past few years I've owned a lot of German cars, all BMW's, this is my first Mercedes, and it DELIVERS. From the over the top styling to the perfectly placed controls and state of the art electronics I am amazed.

Have to agree with norcal's points. Not only was the handling, feel of the road that got me, but also the subtle things that they put in it such as the dual sun visor. That thing saved me like a million times.

We always hated working on those POS's, everyone did... Double drive V belts for accesories, smog coming out it's ears.. interiors that fell apart after about 3 years. Roof headliners held in with thumbtacks... Mullets everywhere, that was actually the worst part of working on a TA. The sister / wife of the mullet headed owner in a "I'm with stoopid" tshirt, dragging 2 equally in-bred mullet headed kids complaining about his latest "mod". Chrome tips held on with screws or taped on pinstriping. The Grant GT steering wheel ala Grand Auto bolted on with 1 fastener, usually the wrong size crooked from cross threading.... yup, good riddance.

My favorite car of all time was a Matchbox version of James Bond's Silver Birch DB5 . It was the ultimate. In addition to the expected Aston Martin Luxury, this model had machine guns, a pop-up rear bullet shield, it could lay down an oil slick behind, and, my favorite feature: it had a passenger side ejector seat. If I had a dollar for every time I wished my car had a passenger side ejector seat....well, I digress.

My most favorite was my BMW "d",followed closely by my Bluetec.Several others, while nice (Infiniti M35,for example) didn't come close to my top two.The reason that the "d" is my favorite is because it was,by *far*, the most fun of the bunch.Hit the accerator on *it* and you felt like you had been fired out of a cannon.

can't go wrong with any car that affords the CANNON feeling either!
