Has anyone changed color of factory wheels
Just got my car cpo and the dealership that is out of state failed to repair wheels that were de laminating.
They are going to have all four wheels repaired, I was wondering if I should change the color of the wheels.
Has anyone done this, if so pics?
My car is steel grey metallic

I'm going to be powder coating my rims very soon. Here's a photoshop of what it will look like (car is in body shop right now....long story).

I saw that thread....but do I have to dismount the rims from the tires with that stuff?
Also, I don't have anywhere to work on the car....the condo I live in forbids it. I just burned a bridge with a friend of 15 years who owns a body shop (long story).
Will that plasti dip look kinda....ghetto?
<<edit>>
My biggest problem is that I cannot afford any downtime to the car....since I use it for business. Nobody in the OC area (where I live) has a set of loaner Mercedes rims I can use, while I wait the 5-7 days for the rims to be powder coated. I got a guy in LA....but he's kinda unreliable (read: super busy). So just wondering if this plasti stuff is what the honda civic guys use to rice out their cars, or does it look clean enough for a 37 year old businessman such as myself to put on my e550 stock rims?
thanks

If you check out the other thread that I started, there are some pictures of the wheels with plastidip. I didn't get any gloss for it(probably should've) and realized maybe another colour like gunmetal gray might be better. Whole process took me a little over an hour. Did not have to dismount the wheels, and I am still happy regardless of the colour because I can always peel it and re-dip it for another 50 bucks.
If you want it to look more classy and not the murder look I guess you can look at colours except matte black.

I went to Home Depot and Lowes here in Orange County, CA. and could only find what appears to be some sort of "black".
The color of the top of the spray can looks to be a dull black.....matte black?

Also, should I get the "glossy" cans? This is going on a white coupe.
I just called the local hardware store....apparently, there's only "one black" according to her. I thought there was a matte black and a "regular black".
So you guys recommend 4 coats?
I got 4 cans and the shop I'm taking it to has 2. Hope that's enough.....

according to the guy on youtube, it's better to have 4-5 coats. more durable and easier to peel off in the future.
if you don't like the matte look, get the glossifier.
that black must be "regular" matte black since she didn't tell you that's camo black.
i highly recommend you to check out the youtube clips. you'll get some pointers from that guy.

The black is the matte black. I would get a can or two of the glossifier if I were you. I didn't use one and kind of regret because the matte black of the wheels makes it kinda look off compared to the shiny black on my car.

why would you need to regret? you can always add the glossifier now, right?

Also I purchased from dipyourcar.com They have cheaper prices than home depot I believe.
As for how many cans you should use, I had 4 cans of the matte black and I had around 1 can left over. That was with around 4 coats too. I wouldn't see any need to get more than 4 cans.

It's a hassle because I need to get it cleaned and spend another hour or so putting coats of the glossifier on. Just don't have the time right now or any time soon to do it. But from experience I would get it for the w212. Especially ones with black exterior.
