I am in the same boat as the OP, my 2011 E 350 goes back Wednesday. I looked at an Audi Q7 TDI and the lease on the 2012 was over 1100 per month. Also looked at an X5 diesel. That one is leasing out around 625 per month with 2700 due for 36 months. I don't like to keep cars for that long so that is my hesitation with the BMW. I have had 7 Mercedes in the last 5 years and am looking for a change but my relationship with my local dealer and the deals they give me make it almost impossible. I have quotes on a 2013 E and and 2013 GL 350. I talked to an Audi dealer and they told me they don't deal on them since "I can't even keep new audis in stock,"

You won't find MB type discounts but most Audi dealers are selling below MSRP. I paid less than invoice for my 2013 A7.

Yes, looks are very subjective. Some people do not like the rear, however, the power hatch does provide for some amazing cargo carrying possibilities.

LOL. I have the same problem. I also look at every possibly color option but always seems to end up with a black car.

Add expensive to replace and NOISY!! Especially between 80-120 km/hr. I wonder if the cops will let me off for going over the 100/hr because the noise of my RFT is hurting my ears.

2011 E350 into 2013 Audi A5?

Really like my E350... it's smooth, quiet, reliable, so solid and the king of the highway. But I rarely have passengers and feel it's just too big, too refined, too insulated. So I'm thinking of trading for a nicely equipped A5. I love the way the A5 looks and drives, but the sunroof doesn't open, there's more wind noise than the E350, and I worry about reliability (my E350 is perfect). Won't consider BMW - had two lemons before - never again.

As it stands, I'll have to hand over my car and write a check for 9 to 10K to get into the Audi (negotiated hard to get that!). I could private party sell my E350 but the tax savings by trading makes up the difference. Having a hard time justifying that much out of pocket to drive the Audi. Of course I'd be going from a 2 year old car with 35,000 miles to a brand new one, but my E350 is good as new.

Drove the C-coupe but that car is just no comparison to the A5 - a terrific balance of comfort, handling, looks and mpg. Hard to beat.

Should I do it? A5?

if you are so concerned about audi's reliability and you love your w212 so much, why not a e350 coupe ? better yet, a boxster or lotus ?

BM2BZ, thanks for your reply. I intended to buy the E350 coupe, but found it to handle very poorly (turns out it's built on a c class platform). Sedan handled so much better so bit on that. I'm not a convertible type (Boxter) but did drive the Cayman and found that very fun to "rip it" but not so much a good daily driver as the ride was harsh and the cabin very noisy (engine right behind seats). Lotus is an interesting suggestion, but I'm hours from a dealer and I imagine it's more a track car than a daily driver like the A5. I wouldn't mind sitting lower but not necessarily on the ground!

if you are looking at a5's price range and if you don't want another bmw, not too many choices. there are couple more if you are ok with japanese cars, infiniti g37 and subaru brz. cadillac cts is another one you can consider. and you are right about the lotus, you are literally sitting on the ground . but best thing about a lotus is you want to go out with a hot date. you can sit very close to her. i mean really really close .
