Pandora Bluetooth streaming, Please Help
Someone please help, I just purchased a 2011 E350 with the P2 Package and I cannot figure out how to stream music via Bluetooth.
The dealership synced all my numbers into the command center and it works fine with my Iphone. Can someone please walk me though the steps on how to stream Spotify or Pandora. I’ll send some good command points over. (I have an Iphone 4s with all the recent updates)
Thanks

I forgot if the 2011 had the audio streaming on their command. I thought it was only 2012+, but double check on that. If you choose the options for different types of media interfaces, at the bottom should be BT audio. If you have that, you can stream any sound from your phone.
I currently stream spotify and it works perfectly. When I get into the car, it automatically plays and stops when I leave the car. Works better than the audio software on my actual phone.
Oh, just saw that you have an iphone 4s. I'm not sure, but if you can pair your phone it should be the same as my galaxy s2

Hello, I am new member and this is my first post. I recently experienced the same issue when I purchased my 2011 e350 with the P2 package. However, a post from hanjaya1 solved my problem. I still plan to post pictures of my car and give a special thank you to hanjaya1. However, we are still dealing with after effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Here is what you need to do to solve your problem, pull up this posting

and save the screen shoot of the MB work receipt.
Email it or print it and bring it to your Service Advisor.
At first they didn't believe me and told me it couldn’t be done, until I email my Service Advisor that work receipt
They will update your Command Software and you will see two big changes afterwards. You will see Bluetooth Streaming and Video as an option.
This works perfectly now with my iPhone 5, even with Pandora.
Good luck with everything and thank you all for your responses on this site it has helped me tremendously.

as long as you have an updated comand software, doesn't matter you have a 2010 or 2013. just a little pointer, don't waste your time to ask your salesperson about your car after he made the sales. simply call the service department and ask either the service adviser or technician.

So I just got back from the dealership and the device department said that they wouldn't do that update because it my 2011 did not come with that and they didn't want to mess up the command unit. Did anyone else have that problem dealing with the dealership?

That's bs. I would find another dealer. Did you show them the work receipt? As I mentioned my dealer did it for me without a problem and now it works great.
I really thinks it comes down to experience or just being lazy. When I first asked my dealer to update the command they told me it couldn't be done. When I emailed the proof from that post I shared with you, all of sudden, they asked that I leave my car for the day and it was done.
It can be done. I would find another dealer, the reward is worth it, so I would fight it and push back on them.

I agree with timsmith. Pure bs. I have a 2010 which did not originally come with BT audio. I got the update, and BT streaming works great. Not only did it NOT mess up Comand, it improved it in little ways. If you dealer worries about this, then perhaps they are inadequately trained.
I did not set out to get BT audio. Instead, I prepared a list of maybe 25 recurrent glitches related to Comand that were difficult to replicate. Gracenotes sometimes worked, sometimes not. Mute would spontaneously unmute. The backup camera took too long to show a picture. I forget the others. Then I switched from my assigned service advisor who didn't give a s**t to one who was determined to fix my issues. (I think doing this gives notice that you are ready to give the dealer unfavorable reviews.) the new one is a great guy, and actually apologized for having to update my Comand.
I told my new SA that my Comand was like a buggy iPhone app - I love it, but something is always going wrong.
After the update, the only thing not fully fixed is Gracenotes. But who cares? Streaming beats CDs. Even if I Know I will be driving in areas with weak reception, I can download playlists to my phone and stream them.
The update is not a quick process. It took most of the day for mine.

I guess what I am trying to say is that the update process is costly in that it takes a tech's time and it uses a service bay for a long time. A dealer is likely to be resistant to absorbing this cost. But if there is some associated malfunction that the dealer can write on the ticket, then the cost can be sent on to MB. Just writing "the customer wants BT audio" is probably not enough to pass it along.
If the salesperson told you that you could stream, that's another angle...

Yeah thanks for all your advice... A damn ford focus has bt audio so bs that my 11 eclass doesn't. Going to keep harassing them. I've only had my car for 5 days also. I just thought that was standard these days

At a minimum they should make it available as an upgrade at a reasonable cost. Without hassle.

I hear you. The funny thing is that that there are 6 2010+ e classes on my block, and I know all of the owners. None of the others have any clue what BT audio is. Even the lack of BT audio would not (and did not) stop me from buying. Instead, it is the Distronic+ technology and other related safety technology that sold me and my neighbors. A focus can't touch this. I wish MB were at the forefront of all technology, but BT audio is most likely not a make-or-break feature in the vast majority of their sales.
At a minimum they should make it available as an upgrade at a reasonable cost. Without hassle.

Don't they still sell the Bluetooth connection box that installs in the glove box socket?

Hello, I am also a new member and this is my first post. I have an appointment next Wednesday to get the Command software update. I could not have gotten this done without the information from hanjaya1 post. They wanted to sell me an adapter until I sent an e-mail to my service advisor with the attached link and they set up the appointment without a problem.

Thank you to hanjaya1 for finding this solution.
