2010 No chirp from lock/unlock
Hi guys!
I'm usually in the w204 section but my friend with a 2010 e class asked me to help him out.
Problem is, since this morning, when unlocking or locking his car, it didn't "chirp"
There is no option for it in the settings or anywhere in the menus.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Hi! There is a setting for the audible signal when locking the car, it is in the settings menu. Outside of a fault you will find it there. Have to agree it is damn loud and annoying so have it switched off!!!!! Would only ever use it in a field of 5000 E series cars all the same colour to find my car!!! lol

I know mine is locked because the wing mirrors fold in, and only fold out when the door is opened !!!! Visible enough !!! Plus the audible alarm is the horn !! Yuk

Umm...so how do you turn it back on?? I've checked the settings menu and there is no option for "acoustic feedback" or whatever it says. My '12 c class has the option but my friends '10 E class doesn't have it.

He should have the lights blink briefly, that's enough notification of the car being locked or he can do the "old fashioned" way and look at the lock pins ... smh

On my 2010 E, the technician adjusted the chirp volume to loudest level. It is still fairly faint, but I can hear it if I listen. I prefer the chirp as I may not always be looking at the lights.

I liked the chirp on my previous E-Class but when they switched to the horn on the 2011's, I disabled it. It drives me crazy when I'm walking through a parking lot and hear horns honking all over the place.
At least Mercedes kept the honking to three short ones.
I don't miss the acoustic confirmation, I just watch the lights blink.

Audible locking (unlocking)
As the guy on "Laugh In" used to say...verrry interesting.
Lots of discussions (here and in other forums), and lots of opinions, but no definite answers.
I have a 2010 E350 as well. When locking the vehicle the only sound it makes is the door lock buttons. The turn signals (front, mirrors and rear) flash a couple times (3, I think). There is no chirp, no beep and no horn, and there is no option or choice in the multifunction display referring to an audible sound when locking the vehicle. I have read comments from other 2010 E owners that there is such a setting, but I can't find it. No biggie...the sound of the door locks and flashing lights is enough for me. BTW, if you unlock and don't open a door or the trunk in 30-40 seconds it automatically relocks (without chirping or beeping).
However, on my 2012 GL450 there is a choice on the multifunction display to have an audible sound, and in the case of my vehicle the sound is annoying as hell (my wife loves it though). Three short beeps of the horn when locking, and one short beep of the horn when unlocking...as well as some flashes of head and tail lights.
Seems to be an issue with Mercedes. Whether there should be a sound and what sound exactly, a chirp, a beep, multiple beeps? And whether it is pre-programmed or owner adjustable? Geez, gimme a break. My previous car locked silently with one press of the key fob and beeped the horn once with two presses of the fob button. No options to change it. Simple.
Anyway if someone has a definite answer I would love to know it...just because.

I had this happen once when went to pick-up the car from scheduled service. My SA took the key and pressed the panic button and as we did not hear any alarm he said that the chirp box is bad. It was replaced and that fixed the issue.

Just go into the settings via the steering wheel buttons, it is in the convenience section, and my sound is the horn, so I switch it off!!! The wing mirrors folding in tell me its locked.......and if I only open the boot the system rearms itself, .....equally if I unlock but don't open the doors it rearms itself with the flashing indicators 3 times for locking and once for open.....

I have an 2011 E350 with horn feedback. Steering wheel buttons -> Arrow L/R to "Settings" -> press OK -> Arrow Down (once for me) -> "Lock Acoustic Feedback - Enabled" -> press OK to disable -> press the back button a few times to get out of the menus.

No Chirp
Hey guys,
Recently noticed that my W212 doesn't have the audible chirp anymore when locking/unlocking the doors or even with panic alarm. Guessing the alarm box went dead. I couldn't find any posts on where and how to replace the alarm siren, if anyone has any ideas please let me know thanks! Warranty ran out years ago so not trying to have dealer do this if I can do it myself.
I tried with both sets of remotes and same issue.
Thanks!

It's possible the user programmable feedback is off. Check to see if you can set it to audible, again.
