Ugh!!!! Sorry to hear this. Self-inflicted wounds are the worst. Your insurance will cover it as a collision. No worries. I would check and see what a local shop would charge "out of pocket" first. I once had a valet sideswipe a concrete beam in a parking garage. The quotes I received for an insurance claim were close to $2K. I asked one shop how much if I just wanted to pay cash out of pocket and had the job done for around $600. Same shop. They use the insurance rates for claims. It may be ceaper than filing a collision claim.

Called the dealer who rough quoted $700 over the phone but obviously said I need to come in and have it looked at for an exact amount. My collision deductible is $1000 so no help there. There's a guy my mother has used a few times who does great work without going to insurance so may use him
ouch
! sorry to see that. no, don't go to insurance. not only your deductible is high, they'll jack your rate after that. i don't think it'll cost you more than $700 at the shop your mom went. good luck

I was driving my 2002 ML and backing out of a parking space in a structure. The concrete foundation was beside my car and I forgot and turned my wheel. The mirror flew off and scraped the side of my door and fender pretty bad. Had to get new panels..... The repairs weren't cheap... I feel you bro.
You might be able to get paintless dent removal on that done, and the scuff looks like it might just buff out. It would save you alot of money and you wouldn't have to break the factory paint.

Took some better photos and emailed them to the dealer, who revised the quote to $99
The little dent should be easy enough to get out and then just wet sand the paint damage which is included in that cost. So very very happy that its not $700 anymore!

I'm not too sure if you want to wet sand the paint. When you sell your car later on and IF someone does a paint meter test on your car they will think your car has had body work. The best thing to do is to get paintless dent removal done on it and then find a reputable detailer who can clean it up as best as they can. You can find reputable detailers throughout the forums.
