I know my Bluetec had a recall on the fuel filter. I did not realize it was for non-Bluetec vehicles as well.

MB told me that they will be issuing notices in Jan 2013. I find that a little concerning that we have to wait for a recall on a potential fuel leak.

My diesel had a fuel filter recall a year or so ago.IIRC only diesels were affected by that recall.

The recall, which concerns model-year 2011-2012 S400, S550, S550 4Matic, S63 AMG, C300, C300 4Matic, E350, GLK350, GLK350 4Matic, CL550 4Matic and CL63 AMG, was issued due to a dangerous fuel filter flange defect.

I got a letter.Call your dealer and give them your VIN number.IIRC,it applied to only part of the 2011 run...perhaps your isn't included.

Just a bit above that it stated:
"Mercedes-Benz announced today that it is recalling 5,800 model-year 2011 through 2012 vehicles due to a potential fire risk. "

This would lead me to believe that either it is not for all 2012s (and part of 2011), there was an error in the number of affected vehicles or MB has a serious sales issue.

Here's the NHYSA recall annoucement. As you can see, only vehicles produced from April 18, 2011 through July 12, 2011 are affected, hence the relatively small number of only 5800.

Summary:

No disrespect, but I would say this is more than a minor recall:

Then don't smoke until you know if your car is on the recall list. It applies to very few cars. Like I said, it's a minor irritant.

wow, HH is a ways from my place here in NC....just north of Savanha huh?? sounds posh
I hear what you're saying about your car.....does not sound pleasant, but I'm sure you know how to make it through the snow.....we get snow sometimes, but mostly ICE! the people around here SHUT DOWN at the lightest of flurries....I admit, I'm not eager to go out in the stuff either, but honestly it's the other people I worry about more than me..
yesterday it was 64 degree's: today.....54.....that's how it is in central NC
