Cargo Tray... No Way

Cargo Tray... No Way
I recently ordered a cargo tray from the dealer in order to keep the trunk nice and tidy. From pictures it looked like the nicest option out there.
Problem is that when I placed it in the trunk it didn’t exactly fit in the space. I even called the parts manager out to take a look and he agreed that although all the numbers were correct the thing didn't fit very well.
Long story short; he is ordering another thinking that getting it from a different source may prove to be a better fit but I'm thinking that there's only one mold and maybe MB didn't really pay this item the correct amount of attention that it deserved.
I'm ready to just order one from WeatherTech but you’d think the Mercedes one would fit better than any others. Unfortunately that's not the case. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this same experience or different. I appreciate any help or input you may be able to offer. Thanks

That's sad to hear. You would think that MB Parts would be able to snap things together instantly to serve their clients.
Sad, another sign of MB decline. From BMW's point of view, they have products and parts OEM ready to go for their lines. Rivals apart, MB is not the Stern in Das Himmel anymore.

This is what I do use in my trunk (that little box at the right side of the trunk) . The image is for illustration purpose only but you get the idea
There are two types of trunk liner . One is low sided and the other is high sided . The image's is low one . Part # A21281401411
This one below is for high sided :
Mine is exactly like this and use it since I bought the car . High profile is better but there is a catch . It kinda obstructs trunk net and other lids in the trunk . MB OEM part and exact fitment. Part # for this item above A21281402411
Another trunk lining I have just found :

DAG engineering often leaves a lot to be desired. On my 2010, you have to literally force the spare tire compartment cover to come off. Then you really have to bend it and force it to go back in. Showed it to service advisor and salesperson when got it - "That's the way they work."

If there are two versions of the same cargo tray for the W204, then it may be the same case with the W212 E350. Check with the parts person and ask if there are two versions: one for split folding rear seats and one for non-split folding rear seats. MB's website doesn't make note of this, so you need to go to the parts counter and have them look it up (ideally using your VIN.)

Thanks for all the feedback. The parts manager swears its the right configuration that he ordered. 2012, Sedan, etc . He did mention about the other tray for the models that have fold down seats, mine does not. I wanted them but they weren't available in the Lux model or so I was told.
That being said the tray "almost" fit but no. I can't take a pic as I left it at the dealers. It was a good 2" short width wise and just didn't sit right. Also the trunk rises in height as you go back towards the seats but the tray itself was perfectly flat so that alone made it sit kinda slopily.
The parts guy said it may be a fluke so he ordered another. I asked him to send it directly to my house so I don't have to go in again but I have my doubts it will be any different. I will post when the new liner comes in and thanks again for all the input. Happy New Year!!

So, for anyone who may still be interested...
I spoke with the parts manager again this weekend and he said that he has gotten a few trays delivered from different suppliers and none of them fit properly. He's not sure what the heck is going on but I decided to cut bait.
I just told him to forget about it and to please issue me a refund. I ordered a WeatherTech on line which will hopefully fit like a glove.
Not sure what is going on with this but I'd love to find out.
Thanks all, Happy New Year!!

Shallow trunk tray for W212 /fold down seats
According to the MB Canada Accessories Catalogue, the correct Part # is
A212 814 0141 (not 01411 as sited above) for the shallow trunk tray for E Class with fold-down seats (standard feature for Canada W212).
A212 814 0141 (not 01411 as sited above) for the shallow trunk tray for E Class with fold-down seats (standard feature for Canada W212).
