Guess I should get off my **** and get one.

I began getting the same Change Key Battery warning recently, but there were no operational issues. It suddenly dawned on me that, although I always carry both keys on me, somehow the system may have been detecting a weak battery even with the good battery key present.
Sure enough, I kept one key out of range and then the other. One of the keys had a weak battery.
Interesting to me that the system is able to detect the bad battery even when it's getting a simultaneous good signal from the other battery.
Lucky me, I caught a sale on Duracell 2025's at the local Giant Market: $2.99 for a two-pack, plus a $1 mfgr.s coupon. Whew! I would hate having to keep the car parked while I waited for a key battery sale!!

If your battery is dead you can unlock the car or trunk with the mechanical key that is hidden in the fob.
You can start your car by putting the electronic key in the ignition with a dead key battery. If you have P2, remove the start button and put the electronic key in.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I think I paid about 7 for two of the batteries.....
can't believe the dealer would take ten dollars for something
a 6 year lod could do haha....
and yes Rsikr, I was horrified to even think about using the real key LOL

Do you wear a belt and braces? You obviously are not a high risk taker.
Hopefully someone will start a thread on their 600hp Brabus conversion soon.

What part of this was useful? Battery change for the key fob is in the manual (Changed batteries on three key fob's already). Missing tow-hook cover is not.
What to know about the tow hook cover is that the little very flimsy tether does not keep it. If for any reason the cover is knocked off of the position it will fly away if at highway speed. The covers for jack stand positions are the same.

I'm currently having issues with batteries dying way too soon. My dealer says it's all in my head, so they replaced the batteries and after I got it back, I got the same error message. Can you tell me the code they used to get it OK'd to replace from MB?
AMG : Mon , Wed , Fri
Mercedes-Benz : Tue, Thu,Sat,Sun
This may sound MB key will have been ahead in use by this time but actually I used AMG one 1st two months constantly and later decided on using both keys this way lol
BTW, it's good to see even a weak battery can start your engine with your electronic key

First of all, I'm not an expert on everything. Secondly, I was having FUN with my post!!! Obviously you missed that.
And yes, I have already changed both key fob batteries for my current car. Also changed one of them for my previous car that was only about 7 months old at the time.

you do have a tendency to be confrontational though........my misunderstanding
Exactly! I hate getting ripped off - unless it's on four wheels with a star on the nose and it goes fast. I kid I kid. There's genuine value in these cars, but not in a $10 dealer battery charge.

Good information!

Gotta love my dealership.

Gotta love my dealership.
I used to get stuff all the time(pens, couple of hats etc)....it's the little things in life right?
the battery is an easy one......and makes you feeltechnical haha...
is your car blue? and where do you live? somewhere really sunny?
I wouldn't be too worried about a shadow of any sort on the paint......
and if there was couldn't it be buffed out?
badge delete is the way too go
good luck with it
