I noticed that they moved the shifter from the console to the steering column like on the sedans. Does this mean that it is based on an E class chassis or is it still based on the C-class?
This may have already been discussed on the sedan thread but, it looks like they switched the stalks for wipers and cruise control! do you think that the blinkers were also moved to the now bigger stalk that is above the smaller cruise one? I can't tell you how many times I turned on (or accelerated) the cruise when trying to turn on the blinkers.

Direct Gear selector on the column is the way to go
I have turned on cruise control a few times when trying to turn on the signals as well . I have noticed that new styling is also fancier than it was before considering stalks have come with the chrome tip at their ends

Porsche Macan S SportDesign / Ex M-B's: 11 & 10 & 06 E350's, 02 S500
The grille looks horrible IMO. M-B's new strategy of soft, overly melted fronts just aren't my bag. Also, the grille is just too narrow, too cute and friendly, it looks much better being wide and sharp like the CLS's. I can imagine the new Star front from the facelift E's on any of M-B's EU utilitarian Vans.
The rear lights have always been too bland for a Coupe IMO, considering they're small and softened versions of the Sedans, but IMO they look even more bland than before, even though the graphics are more interesting with the BMW-wannabe lava-lamp look.
Also I don't think moving the gear stalk to the column is a good idea for a Coupe. For the Sedan that is about a luxury and non sportive setting it works, but if M-B want to push for a more youthful image, a gear selector on cars that they want to cater to a younger audience should be in the middle portion.

while I do like the LED's in the headlamps, it's still too C class for me,
not that there is anything wrong with the C Class.......just nice to have models
that are not all the same in looks

I liked the E-Class coupe the way it was originally designed. I thought the facelift looked okay (I esp like the upgraded interior) until I noticed that the lower edge of the headlight has a very unnecessary "scoop" that is unfortunately reminiscent of a Hyundai Genesis coupe or a (good God) a Chrysler Sebring/200. ::sigh:: At least the fiber-optic like part of the headlights is considerably better executed on the coupe than it is on the sedan....
BTW, the new turn signal only looks nice in photos; it feel horrible to use and wouldn't be out of place in a Toyota Corolla....
