2012 E550 - Warped rotars for the SECOND TIME
#251
Anyone have a part number for a rotor that won't warp on the front? I prefer non-drilled as the show aspect is not interesting, a smooth pedal is. Centric makes a slotted rear but not a slotted front, only a drilled front.

Warped
I have a 2012 E550 coupe. I bought the car brand new in May 2012. The rotars warped at 8,000 miles. The car would shake and shudder every time I braked. They replaced the pads and rotars telling me that they had warped (although they had the nerve to mark down that I had been driving the car aggressively - if by aggressive they mean sitting in bumper to bumper traffic every day then yes.) Although they did keep the car for 2 weeks for good measure.
Anyway, the car now has 12,100 miles, and the problem has returned. Every time I brake the car shudders. I called my dealer and they told me they would be scrutinizing very closely as they have already done this once, and they're not going to want to replace them again. I almost lost my **** at this, I spend $70,000 on a car and these clowns are now threatening to not replace them. I also love how on the website they tout the brakes as being "high performance" and can "with stand repeated hard braking" LOL. right. My bicycle has better brakes than this piece of crap.
Anyway, what's my best course of action here? I absolutely REFUSE to pay $700 for another set of worthless brakes. I have the car booked in at another dealer, but the brakes are 100 miles out of warranty. I think it's ridiculous that a $70,000 car has brakes that are apparently only good for a few thousand miles. I will never buy another Mercedes again.

In a couple of words BS!
Factory OEM rotors do not normally warp under normal and aggressive driving. It just doesn't happen.
I suggest you contact MBUSA and get help with this and the dealership attitude. They don't get to make the call.

Ok guys here is my take on this.
2 W124s, 2001 CLK320, 2003 E320 2 WD, 2009 W211 350 4matic Wagon, 2011 W212 350 4matic wagon and 2001 SLK320.
With one exception I have never had a rotor warping issue on any of these cars including the 1993 W124 E300 3.2 which I put 300,000 km on.
The exception? I cheaped out and had the old rotors turned because there was enough metal and I think the guy who did it cut them too hard and too fast and overheated them such that the first panic stop pooched them.
It just is not a normal issue and as to this bedding in issue it is just fiction. Whether the car was new or the brakes rebuilt it just is not necessary.
Just sayin'. I cannot argue with my experience over probably now 1 million KM of driving these cars.

[QUOTE=WLKC12;6068466 Has to do with the friction layer being warn off by our driving and MB has been trying different pads.[/QUOTE]
Wait what? Brakes are friction layers. What were they talking about?

It is a common phenomena with E550. Majority of E550s will need front rotors and pads changed at around 8000 miles. Nobody seems to know exact causes for the phenomena. My friend could not get it repaired under factory warranty.
