I am looking for some exhaust mods myself. I don't have an answer for you but I did find some AMG tips on eBay just FYI.

Just my opinion here.. consider just swapping out your resonator for an X- pipe. Gives the exhaust a very nice sound, not loud or ricey.. but when you get on the gas you def hear it. Its cheap to do and keeps it classy. I did a custom exhaust on my C class and i regretted it, the cabin noise was annoying.

This sounds pretty good. Sounds about the same at idle and a little more throaty at a rev. I wonder what the difference is in the cabin though.

Just got this done at a local shop. Cost around 100 bucks. Very easy to install, took only 30 mins. (Cutting and welding). I have a e350 and it probably won't sound as good as the e550 in that video. However, you will definitely be able to tell the difference between the stock resonator and x-pipe. The x-pipe has a really deep growl to it, and usually I only hear it when its at 2.5+ rpm. Cabin noise isn't much difference, but there is that subtle change to sound. It is good for people who want a deeper growl, which makes the car that much more aggressive sounding but at the same time keeping the classiness when you need it to be. You will not be able to tell the difference when you are in idle.

For people who is thinking about this mod, don't expect too much in sound difference. After all its only a 100 dollar mod. I'm sure it is louder for people on the outside than inside the cabin though.

I'm a newbie and I have a 2010 E550 and want to delete the resonator for X-pipes. How many resonator's are on the car? Which brand of X-pipes did you get (does it even matter? What size x-pipes. Thanks for your input.

Got it done at Ace muffler and brake shop in westminster. Very nice people. I'll be honest, if you are looking for something that you can hear clearly while driving, this isn't for you. However, I had my friend rev the car for me while I'm standing outside/back of the car and you can here the growl. I personally love it. It is a very low key growl and it sounds classy instead of ricey. It also isnt too loud. Most of the time when you go above speed 50mph+ either the engine or road noise will cover the sound. However, theres always going to be that deep humming coming from it. Like I said, if you want something low key but better sound, you can consider this.

EDIT: I got what the shop offered me. I tried to call around for a magnaflow branded one, but none of the places I called keep it in stock. After doing some research, I found out that it shouldn't really matter what brand. As long as the welds aren't s***, then everything is pretty much the same.

EDIT again..: I looked at the video again, and I do get that throaty sound when the car is revved in the video at around 18 seconds in.

The V6 won't sound nearly as good and WILL sound a little "ricey" if you don't get a well balanced setup on it.

At the same time, I've heard some of the 268 HP 6's sound decent on other M-B's (haven't heard a setup I liked on the E350), so the motor itself should have a nice harmony with a good setup I'd think, but to be honest I've heard a lot that sounded really bad as well.

When it comes to sound, it's hard to beat a V8, IMO.

+1, I don't think any of you guys should be really hyped up about this because I think you are just going to be disappointed if you expect too much out of this 100$ mod, especially for a V6
